How to Measure a New Patient

  1. Install the battery by opening the battery door using the provided screwdriver.

  2. Power the unit on by pressing and releasing the Action Button (circular button).

  3. Apply the Keeler AccuTip cover to the unit, ensuring proper tension.

  4. Once the screen reads ‘000’ the unit is powered on.

  5. Hold the AccuPen in front of the patient’s eye in testing position.

  6. Press and release the Action Button. Once the dial on the screen begins to spin, the unit is in measurement mode.
    NOTE : THE ACCUPEN MUST BE IN TESTING POSITION WHEN YOU PRESS AND RELEASE THE ACTION BUTTON.

  7. Keeping the ‘Sensor Tip’ perpendicular and central to the cornea, bounce off a. You will need to tap the cornea multiple times to record a reading, the unit will chirp twice when a measurement is acquired.

  8. You can take repeat measurements by repeating steps 4-6.

  9. Once you are satisfied with the number of measurements acquired you can scroll through them using the up and down arrows (Tear Drop Buttons).

  10. The actual measurement will be displayed in larger numbers on top.

  11. The average will be displayed as the smaller number on the bottom.

  12. A number with an asterisk next to it is considered an outlier and can be deleted by holding down either the up or down arrow. This will delete that specific number and re-calculate the average.
