MINCO CH356 Flameproof Connection Heads

Product Information

CH356, CH357, CH358 Flameproof Connection Heads
The CH356, CH357, and CH358 Flameproof Connection Heads are designed to protect against explosive atmospheres. They are certified under the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and conform to the relevant legislation, including EN 60079-0:2012+A11:2013 and EN 60079-1:2007. These connection heads are intended for use with resistance thermometers or thermocouples.

Warnings: Follow these cautions when using the CH356, CH357, and CH358 Flameproof Connection Heads.

Product Attestation of Conformity

This Attestation of Conformity is issued under the sole responsibility of the manufacturer. The product is certified under TRAC14ATEX0072U and IECEx TRC 14.0033U and meets the quality assurance standards set by DEKRA Certification B.V. (0344) and Element Materials Technology Rotterdam BV (2812).

Product External and Internal Markings

The external markings indicate that the connection head is a flameproof enclosure with an Ex component certificate. The internal markings provide additional information about the product, including the certification number, conduit thread, L/B#, and IP rating.

Product Schedule of Limitations

  1. Rotating electrical machines or other devices that create turbulence should not be incorporated with the connection heads.
  2. Oil-filled circuit breakers and contactors should not be used.
  3. The content of the Ex component enclosure may be placed in any arrangement that provides an area of at least 40% of each cross-sectional area remains free to permit unimpeded gas flow and unrestricted development of an explosion. Separate relief areas may be aggregated provided that each area has a minimum dimension in any direction of 12.5mm.
  4. Only suitably rated and approved Ex-certified cable glands and blanking elements should be used.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Follow the warnings provided in the user manual.
  2. Make sure the connection head is certified for use in your specific application.
  3. Use only suitably rated and approved Ex-certified cable glands and blanking elements.
  4. Ensure that rotating electrical machines or other devices that create turbulence are not incorporated with the connection head.
  5. Avoid using oil-filled circuit breakers and contactors with the connection head.
  6. Arrange the content of the Ex component enclosure to provide an area of at least 40% of each cross-sectional area for unimpeded gas flow and unrestricted development of an explosion. Separate relief areas can be aggregated provided that each area has a minimum dimension in any direction of 12.5mm.
  7. Connect external wiring to resistance thermometers or thermocouples using connectors (terminals, wire nuts, or Minco temperature transmitter) when provided.
  8. Do not open the connection head when an explosive atmosphere is present.

Warnings

Follow these cautions.

  • Do not open while energized.
  • Do not open the cover when an explosive atmosphere is present.
  • The minimum allowed temperature is -50°C (-58°F).

Attestation of Conformity

  • This Attestation of Conformity is issued under the sole responsibility of the manufacturer.
  • Connection Head Types: CH356, CH357 and CH358.

Schedule of Limitations

  1. Rotating electrical machines or other devices which create turbulence shall not be incorporated.
  2. Oil-filled circuit breakers and contactors shall not be used.
  3. The enclosures are designed to be used in an ambient temperature range of -50°C to +60°C.
  4. The content of the Ex component enclosure may be placed in any arrangement providing that an area of at least 40% of each cross-sectional area remains free to permit unimpeded gas flow and unrestricted development of an explosion. Separate relief areas may be aggregated provided that each area has a minimum dimension in any direction of 12.5mm.
