Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a similar device that will connect a tablet to my computer without wires?

No, there isn’t. But, if your computer is Bluetooth compatible, you can connect your tablet to your PC via Bluetooth technology.

How many meters does it pick up wireless?

I have been unable to determine its effective range but I live in a two-story house with a basement and I can take my laptop anywhere in the house without losing my wireless connection.

Is this a dual-band adapter? Will it see both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz signals?

The confusion comes from the fact that this listing has four different adapters listed as choices to select. Two of the four are dual-band adapters for 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Does this adapter work with any router, of any brand?

Yes, it will work with any router that meets specifications IEEE 802.11b, g, and n.

Will this work on the Verizon Fios network router?

As long as whatever device you are using has a USB port and the drivers are available for it, it should receive the wifi signal from any kind of router. I have it plugged into a 2008 Macbook Pro 17 and it receives signals from every wifi router in a 100-foot radius as well as my Verizon JetPak wifi hotspot. I’ve used it successfully on a PC laptop as well.

Does it work with mac os 10.14?

Yes, just install the proper drivers.

Will this allow my desktop computer to connect to the wifi?

Yes, it can! The device plugs in by USB and will allow your desktop or laptop PC to connect to the wifi network of your choice. I have one of these on both of my laptops.

Will this work on Windows 10?

I upgraded to Win 10 two weeks ago and it’s working fine on my Lenovo R400 laptop as of right now.

Does this work for Windows 10 Dell laptops?

I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t. It works on a Dell Desktop and a Lenovo Laptop. The brand of the computer shouldn’t make a difference. I’ve had NO problems with it.

How do I install it?

Plug it into the port and it will come up in your set-up for wifi

Can I use this to connect my Blu-ray player to my home network for streaming?

Probably not. Unlike a computer, the drivers that come with TV / Bluray players are very specific, making you buy the one that they sell specifically for that purpose.
