The SHURflo Series float switches are reliable switches for your boat. They come in a complete line that includes a solid-state control, mechanical, standard float switch, and protected cage switch. The installation location for the pump should be at the deepest position in the bilge, away from high heat sources like engines, etc. The switch will activate the bilge pump when the water level reaches 1-3/4 (44mm) and will turn off the bilge pump when water level falls to 3/4 (19mm).
Product Usage Instructions
- Locate the pump at the deepest position in the bilge and mount it to the hull or pad with stainless steel screws.
- Use 16 AWG wire for wire leads. For installation over 20 feet, use 14 AWG wire. Wire is tinned to prevent corrosion.
- To reduce water wicking corrosion through wires, make all connections with waterproof connectors above all splashing bilge water.
- Keep all wire connections above the highest water level and seal the wires with a waterproof marine sealant to prevent corrosion.
- Install the Bilge switch cage for optimal performance.
- Always test pump and switch before operation.
- Do not pump oil, diesel fuel, gasoline or other flammable liquids overboard. This switch does not prevent the discharge of oil or chemicals into the water. Please take appropriate measures to prevent discharging oil and chemicals.
