OWC QSG Slim Optical Drive Enclosure Kit

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Hardware:

• Works with any USS-equipped Mac or PC with (2) available USB Type-A ports Operating System:

• Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, macOS 10.12.6 or later, Windows 7 or later
  Supported Drives:

  • (1) 12.7mm SATA optical drive
  • The owe Slim is compatible with 12.7mm slot-loading SATA optical drives. However, the owe Slim is designed to enclose 12.7mm tray­loading SATA optical drives. Installing a slot-loading drive, such as an Apple SuperDrive from a 2009-2010 Mac mini will leave visible gaps in the front due to the slot- loading optical drive not having a tray.

USAGE NOTES

The owe Slim is a bus-powered device meaning the host can power the optical drive. The included USB ‘Y’ cable (Micro-B to dual Type-A) needs to be used for the owe Slim to receive enough power to function. Connect the Micro-B plug to the owe Slim and connect both USB Type-A plugs into the host. The owe slim can also be powered by an optional 5V /2A power supply through the DC In 5V power port.

INSTALLING AN OPTICAL DRIVE
Line up the optical drive with the opening of the OWC Slim. Slide the optical drive into the owe Slim until fully seated. If you encounter heavy resistance, do not force the drive. Remove the drive, line it up, and try again.

REMOVING INSTALLED OPTICAL DRIVE

1. The owe Slim is held together by (4) tabs. Use a thin screwdriver or pry tool to depress the tabs. Insert the tool on the tab side closest to the edge and press the tab inwards to disengage the case top.
2. Depress the tabs at all (4) locations. The top can be lifted apart once all (4) tabs have been depressed.
3. Assemble the owe Slim back together without a drive by aligning the top with the bottom-back. Press down while moving from back-to-front. The top and bottom will snap back together
