  • Model: Workbench Caster Quick Release Plate
  • Mounting Plate Distance: 1-3/8″ to 1-5/8″
  • Number of Casters: 4
  • Compatibility: Vertical legs of workbenches

Product Usage Instructions

Follow these instructions to install the Workbench Caster Quick Release Plate:

  1. Locate the bottom edge of each mounting plate at a distance of 1-3/8 to 1-5/8 above the bottom of the leg (as it rests on the floor). Be sure to use the same distance for each leg.
  2. Mark the mounting hole locations & use a 1/8 drill bit to make pilot holes.
  3. Place the mounting plate on the workbench leg (or shim*) and securely attach the mounting screws for each plate.
  4. Slide your rolling casters horizontally onto the mounting plate via the channels at the top and bottom of the mounting plate.
  5. Once they are in place, put the hex bolt vertically through the top and bottom holes to lock the casters in place.

Additional installation tips

  • To reduce measurement errors, cut a piece of scrap the size for the height above the floor you want (1-3/8 to 1-5/8) for use as a locating template. Rest the scrap on the floor next to each leg & then rest the bottom of each plate onto the scrap, thus ensuring each wheel is located at the same height on all four legs.
  • If you want to get a feel how a different mounting distance above the bottom of the leg impacts the lifting of the bench onto the wheels, use a sturdy clamp to temporarily secure the mounting plate at different distances. Observe how much the bench leg is off the floor when supported by the clamp.

Enjoy the convenience of being able to move your workbench around your workspace with ease thanks to the Workbench Caster Quick Release Plate!

Mounting Instructions

The mounting plate of each wheel assembly is attached to the vertical legs of your bench using the included screws. Locate the bottom edge of each mounting plate at a distance of 1-3/8” to 1-5/8” above the bottom of the leg (as it rests on the floor). Be sure to use the same distance for each leg.

A lower mounting position for the plate (1-3/8”), means the wheels will raise up the legs more, which can be useful when you need to roll over thresholds or have a less-than-smooth & flat workspace floor. A higher mounting position (1-5/8”) means the bench is lifted less and thus takes a bit less effort when stepping on the pedal to lift the bench up on the wheels. This can be useful for very heavy benches existing on level, flat floors. Mark the mounting hole locations & use a 1/8” drill bit to make pilot holes. Place the mounting plate on the workbench leg (or shim*) and securely attach the mounting screws for each plate. Next, slide your rolling casters horizontally onto the mounting plate via the channels at the top and bottom of the mounting plate. Once they are in place, put the hex bolt vertically through the top and bottom holes to lock the casters in place.

Additional Installation Tips

To reduce measurement errors, cut a piece of scrap the size for the height above the floor you want (1-3/8” to 1-5/8”) for use as a locating template. Rest the scrap on the floor next to each leg & then rest the bottom of each plate onto the scrap, thus ensuring each wheel is located at the same height on all four legs. If you want to get a feel how a different mounting distance above the bottom of the leg impacts the lifting of the bench onto the wheels, use a sturdy clamp to temporarily secure the mounting plate at different distances. Observe how much the bench leg is off the floor when supported by the clamp.

Special Note

Should your leg design have any offset near the foot where the plate will attach, shim appropriately so the mounting plate attaches to be flush onto the side of each leg. For instance, the foot on our Ramia Pro workbench protrudes 1/2” beyond the leg. To fill that gap, we cut four 1/2” plywood rectangles that are the width of the leg & 5” tall. Next, we mounted them on all four legs with wood screws. Each leg receives four wood screws that are arrayed near the corners of each plywood shim, & driven through the plywood & into the leg.
