Flex Booster Seat - Overview 1

Thank you for choosing Be Safe iZi Flex FIX i-Size
It is important that you read this user manual BEFORE installing your seat. Incorrect installation could endanger your child.

Vital information

  • For the correct usage of the airbag in combination with the seat; read the vehicle handbook.
  • For the suitable positions in the car, read the vehicle handbook.
  • BeSafe recommends to install the seat in all vehicle seat positions which are intended to be used and check installation, available space in the vehcile and position of the child, to verify if the seat is acceptable for your situation.
  • iZi Flex FIX i-Size can be installed forward-facing with the ISOFIX anchorage in a vehicle equipped with ISOFIX anchorage points, in combination with a 3-point belt, approved to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or other. When there is no ISOFIX anchorage available in the vehicle position, iZi Flex FIX i-Size can be installed forward-facing with a 3-point belt, approved to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or other.
  • iZi Flex FIX i-Size is approved for stature height 100 cm – 150 cm, in the forward-facing direction.
  • When used for stature heights between 135 cm. and 150 cm iZi Flex FIX i-Size might not fit in all vehicles, due to a low position of the vehicle roof at the side.
  • Before every use, make sure that the 3-point belt is not damaged or twisted and installed tight.
  • When used without the isofix anchorages connected, the seat should always be restrained by the vehicle belt when it is transported without the child.
  • When the child is taller then 150 cm. or the shoulders exceed the highest position of the shoulder belt guiders, the child must change to a seat suitable for longer children, normally the vehcile seat.
  • After an accident, the seat must be replaced. Although it may look undamaged, if you were to have another accident, the seat may not be able to protect your child to the level to which it was designed.
  • Prevent the seat from becoming trapped or weighed down by luggage, seats and/or slamming doors.
  • DO NOT attempt to dismantle a part, which is not intended to be removed, modify or add any part to the seat. Warranty will be void if non-original parts or accessories are used.
  • Never leave your child unattended in the seat.
  • Make sure all passengers are informed about how to release your child in case of emergency.
  • Make sure luggage or other objects are properly secured. Unsecured luggage may cause severe injuries to children and adults in case of accidents.
  • Never use the seat without the cover. The cover is a safety feature and may only be replaced by an original BeSafe cover.
  • Do not use any aggressive cleaning products; these may harm the construction material of the seat.
  • BeSafe advises that child seats should not be bought or sold secondhand.
  • KEEP this user manual with the seat for future use.
  • DO NOT use the seat for longer than 8 years. Due to ageing, the quality of the material may change.
  • DO NOT use at home. It has not been designed for home use and can only be used in a vehicle.
  • When the child seat is installed in the car check all the areas where the child seat might touch the interior. We recommend using a (BeSafe) protection cover in these places to avoid cuts, marks or discolouration to the interior of the vehicle, especially in vehicles with leather or wooden interiors.
  • If in doubt, consult either the car seat manufacturer or the retailer.

Installation

  1. When installing the seat in the front vehicle seat make sure the backrest of the vehicle seat is in an upright position.
  2. Position the seat inside the vehicle.
  3. Pull the ISOfix release handle to release the ISOfix connectors. A button on top of the handle will keep the handle in the released position and locks the ISOfix connectors to slide in the base again. (2) The ISOfix arms lock only in the position where it is totally extended. In this locked position 2 red marks next to the button on the handle will become visible. (3)
  4. Click the ISOfix connectors to the ISOfix anchorage points in the vehicle seat (4). Make sure that all ISOfix indicators are GREEN. (5, 6)
  5. Press the button on top of the ISOfix release handle (located between the red marks) down and push the handle back into the base. (7, 8) Push the seat as far as possible towards the backrest of the vehicle seat. (9)
  6. Make sure the back of the seat is touching the backrest of the vehicle seat. If the headrest of the vehicle is pushing the seat away from the backrest, adjust the headrest.
  7. If the seat cannot be used in combination with ISOfix anchorage points in the vehicle seat, the ISOfix connectors can be stowed inside the seat and the seat can be used in combination with the 3-point belt only.
  8. Slide the shoulder belt in the shoulder belt guide. (10) Make sure the belt is not twisted and that the shoulderbelt guide is closed again to keep the belt inside. (11)
  9. The seat is delivered with removable SIP+ (side impact protection +). This extra side impact protection should be used on the door side of the vehicle. It can be connected on the outside of the side bumper in 2 slots. The seat already offers high level integrated side impact protection. This extra side impact protection improves the protection in a side impact still further. (12)
  10. Do not use the SIP+ on the seat when the space between seat and door of the vehicle is too small, which might lead to a situation where the seat is not positioned correctly on the vehicle seat.

Positioning of the child

  1. Adjust the headrest to the correct height by turning the height adjuster handle. (13) Make sure that the shoulder belt is level with your child’s shoulder. (14)
  2. The seat can be positioned in 2 positions by pulling the reclining handle upwards and pushing the seat forwards or backwards. Position the seat in the correct position before positioning the child with the vehicle belt. (15)
  3. Position the vehicle belt in front of the child and lock the belt into the buckle of the vehicle. (16, 17)
  4. BeSafe recommends to use the lap belt guider to keep the child seated in the optimum upright position. To use the lapbelt guider position the lapbelt through the lapbelt guider.
  5. The PAD+ must be used around the shoulder vehicle belt and positioned between the chin and the chest of the child.
  6. Remove slack in the belt by pulling the belt towards the re tractor. (18)

Removing the seat

  1. Remove the shoulder belt out of the shoulder belt guide by pushing the shoulder belt lock in the guider up and slide the belt out. (19, 20)
  2. Pull the ISOfix release handle to release the ISOfix connectors. (21) In this way the base of the seat can move forwards and the ISOfix release buttons can be operated. (22)
  3. Release both ISOfix connectors, by pushing down the release buttons. (23) Slide the arms with ISOfix connectors inside the seat before you remove the seat from the vehicle. To be able to slide the arms with ISOfix connectors inside the seat, press the button (between the red marks) on top of the ISOfix release handle down.
  4. Remove the seat from the vehicle.

Installation of 3 car seats

  1. The SIP bumper on the inner side of the vehicle can be removed from the seat to create more space next to the seat for an additional car seat in the middle position of the vehicle. Remove a side bumper only on the inner side of the vehicle and never on the door side. (24, 25)
  2. To remove a SIP bumper, push the button and move the bumper sideways and to the back, to hook it out of the fabric hooks. Keep the SIP bumper for later usage. (26, 27)
  3. To install a SIP bumper, first hook in the lower hook (28), then hook in the upper hook (29) and finally secure the bumper in the middle by pushing the button (30) first and releasing it when it’s positioned against the seat. Check if the SIP bumper is connected correctly. Use the SIP bumper always on the door side of the vehicle.

Removing and refitting the cover

  • Do take care when you remove the cover, as re-fitting the cover is the reverse process.
  • Start to take off the backrest part first and re-fit the backrest part as the last part.
  • For washing instructions, see the wash care label at the inside of the fabric cover.

Warning: potential misuse

  • For the correct usage of the airbag in combination with the seat read the vehicle handbook.
  • Make sure the indicators are green before you drive.
  • Make sure the back of the seat is touching the backrest of the vehicle seat and the isofix connectors are pushed inside the seat as far as possible. The red surface on top of the ISOfix release handle must not be visible during driving.
  • Make sure that the SIP bumpers are always connected with the seat on the door side and connected with the seat on the inner side of the vehicle when there is enough space available.
