Puretec IF Series Irrigation Filter Range

Puretec Customer Service

The Puretec IF Series irrigation filter range prevents build-up and blockages in irrigation systems and is essential to ensure consistent water distribution. Irrigation filtration is vital to protect agricultural, landscape, and commercial investments, the IF Series filters reduce sediment to ensure irrigation systems remain working at their peak capacity. One of the most common challenges with any irrigation system is preventing blockages caused by various organic and inorganic materials. Blockages can severely decrease the irrigation system’s performance and increase the need for frequent maintenance. The Puretec IF Series irrigation filters provide the solution for irrigators, homeowners, and industry, who want to reduce system maintenance, plant damage, and water and energy costs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Installation Requirements

  • System Max Pressure Rating: See model specification table.
  • DO NOT overtighten when connecting the filter to the piping. Too much tape or over-tightening may cause the product to split.
  • Use PTFE thread seal tape on all connections. The use of pipe sealants will void the warranty.
  • Ensure correct inlet/outlet orientation
  • Use on cold water line only.

Installation Note:
A water filter system/tap, like any product, has a limited life and may eventually fail. Also sometimes failure happens early due to unforeseen circumstances. To avoid possible property damage, this product should be regularly examined for leakage and/or deterioration and replaced when necessary. A drain pan, plumbed to an appropriate drain or outfitted with a leak detector, should be used in those applications where any leakage could cause property damage, and/or the water supply should be turned off if no one is home/present.

Cleaning
The filter requires cleaning when the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet reaches 0.5-0.6 bar (7-8 psi).

Preparing Your System

Puretec systems are designed to run economically for many years, dependent on the initial installation and periodical maintenance Please read all instructions carefully as failures caused by incorrect installation or operation are not covered by warranty On removing your system from its carton you should check all the components to ensure all are present and have not been damaged in transportation. Remove all the packing materials prior to use.

As responsible manufacturers, we care about the environment. We urge you to follow the correct disposal procedure for your product and packaging materials. You must dispose of this product and its packaging according to local laws and regulations.

Use Guidelines

  • For the maximum operating pressure, refer to the specifications table.
  • Maximum operating temperature 2-25°C, protect from freezing.
  • For the nominal flow rate, refer to the specifications table.

Maintenance

To keep the filter in the best working order it is recommended that you follow the maintenance guidelines below.

  • Perform a visual check of the filter housing and seals once a week. If needed, repair or replace as necessary.
  • Clean the filter once a month or as required due to pressure drop, when the pressure drops across the filter reaches 0.6 bar (8 psi).
  • Perform a deep clean at the beginning and end of the irrigation season.

To remove organic material:
Soak the screen in a 0.5% hypochlorite solution (bleach) for 30 minutes. Rinse with clean water and return to the filter according to the procedures above.

To remove scale/calcium:
Soak the screen in a bath of Puretec SC1000 ScaleSolve for 30 minutes. Rinse with clean water and replace back into the filter.

Cleaning Mesh Screens

  1. Turn off the inlet feed water.
  2. If the line is pressurized, depressurize the line by releasing a tap downstream.
  3. Unscrew the filter cap, or if equipped, unfasten the clamp.
  4. Remove the cap.
  5. Pull out the filter element.
  6. Clean the element using pressurized water (i.e.: garden hose). Use a soft brush for hard-to-remove particles.
  7. Replace the element (ensure the O-rings have not been dislodged or lost).
  8. Replace the filter cap, and if equipped, fasten the clamp.
  9. Turn on the inlet feed water.
  10. Check for leaks – tighten if necessary.

Cleaning Disk Filters

  1. Turn off the inlet feed water.
  2. If the line is pressurized, depressurize the line by releasing a tap downstream.
  3. Unscrew the filter cap, or if equipped, unfasten the clamp.
  4. Remove the cap.
  5. Pull out the filter element
  6. Loosen the tightening ring at the base of the spine.
  7. Pull the spine to decompress the disk stack.
  8. Clean the element using pressurized water (i.e.: garden hose). Direct a stream of water along the edge of the disks to clean with a spinning action.
  9. Push the spine back into the body to compress the disk stack, ensuring the stack is uniform.
  10. Tighten the ring at the base of the spine.
  11. Replace the filter cap, and if equipped, fasten the clamp.
  12. Turn on the inlet feed water.
  13. Check for leaks – tighten if necessary.
