USER INTERFACE
- Side menu: Here’s where you can find Home, You’re Blocked Song/Artist/Keyword List, and the Help screen. You can also log out of your account from the side menu.
- Library view mode: Switch between two views – list and thumbnail (default). Also, search for a Program/Mix/ Station in your Music Library.
- Add: Add Programs or Mixes
- Library: Your list of Programs, Mixes, and Stations available to schedule or “Play Now” on your Player.
- Menu: Switch between your Music Library, Messaging, Sites/Now Playing, and Playlists
- User onboarding: During login, the user is greeted with an onboarding message.
ADD A MIX
A mix is a combination of one or more music elements or micro-genres.
- From your Music Library, click on the Red + button in the upper right-hand corner.
- Click on “Add a Mix”.
- Click on “Add a Mix”.
MIX DETAILS
When creating a new Mix or opening an existing Mix, the following screen appears:
- Back button: Return to Music Library.
- Save: Save the changes made to the Mix.
- Album Art: Select the Cover Imager for the Mix.
- Mix Info: Set the name and the description of the Mix.
- Preview: Preview 30-second snippets of tracks in your Mix.
- Play Now: Play your Mix on selected players.
- Music: A list of elements that can be used for mixing.
- Mix board: A list of moods that can be adjusted for the mix.
- Add element: Add the desired Elements to your Mix (up to 5).
ADJUST THE BLEND
Customize your Mix by adjusting the playback priority for each of the elements.
- This Mix will play more songs from the “2000s Indie Pop” element and fewer songs from the “2000s R&B” element.
ADD A PROGRAM
Programs are curated playlists created by Mood and are typically based on criteria such as music genre or year. For example ‘70s hits, Bluegrass, or Holiday Pop.
- Go to your library.
- Click on the “+” icon from the upper right corner. Click on “Add a Program” and scroll through the list of available programs.
PROGRAM DETAILS
When adding a program the following screen appears:
- Back: Return to Library.
- Program name: The name of the program, along with its genre and content rating.
- Preview: Preview 30 seconds of a random track from the program.
- Add: Add the program to the library.
- Sample artists: A list of artists found in the music program.
CREATE A STATION
Harmony Stations allows you to search for songs and artists to create a customized station of music similar to what has been searched and selected. Create and play Stations based on one Seed (a song or artist) or combine different songs and artists together to create something truly unique to your business – the possibilities are endless!
STATION DETAILS
When creating a station, the following screen appears:
- Go to your library.
- Click on the “+” icon from the upper right corner. Open a new station by clicking on the “Create station” button.
- Back: Return to Library.
- Save: Save the station.
- Thumbnail: Change the station image.
- Station name: The name of the station.
- Description: A user inputted a description of the station.
- Preview: Preview 30 seconds of a random track from the station (button available after the station is saved).
- Play now: Play the station directly on a group, location, or device.
- Seeds: The list of added seeds.
- Add new seed: Open the add seed view.

A station can be created using an artist, a combination of artist and track,
or just a track.
In this image, the user searched for a track called ” by Madonna.
- Back: Return to the station.
- Artist name: The name of the artist.
- Song title: The name of the track.
- Search: Triggers the search function.
- Matching results: This section shows any results matching the Artist’s name and Song title.
- Matching artists: This section shows results matching the artist’s name from the search field.
- Similar songs: This section shows tracks similar to the one from the search field.
- Add: Adds the seed into the station.
This is an example of a search based only on the artist’s name.
This is an example of a search based only on the song’s title.
After adding the seeds, they will appear in the station details. There can be
up to five stations that must be unique. For example, you cannot add the seed
“Madonna – La Isla Bonita” more than once in a station.
By clicking on the “Play now” button, the station can be played on a group,
location, or on the device. You can also change the zone by using the dropdown
(visible only in a multi-zone setup).
SITE MONITORING
Harmony Music provides a tool for monitoring what is currently playing on each site and the health status of the devices.
- Click on the Sites button from the menu bar. The list of sites will be displayed along with the number of online devices (green bullet) and offline devices (red bullet). Click on a site to see more details.
- After clicking on a site, the app shows all the online and offline players. Clicking on a player will show the commands.
- When the player info is displayed, the user can toggle the volume, skip the song, and open the player’s monitoring details by clicking on the “i” button in the upper right corner.
- Clicking on the top dropdown (visible only for multi-zone setups) will show the list of zones to which the player is connected. You can switch the Now Playing view from one zone to another.
- Player monitoring info shows software details such as playback diagnostics (last playlist update, last content update, etc) and network diagnostics, as well as other relevant information.
SINGLE ZONE
CONFIGURATION
ZONES
Zones are an easy and convenient way to manage distinct music and messaging
strategies from a single account. Zones are tailored to each business. A
grocery store may have a zone for the front of the house and another for the
employee break room. A hotel location may have a music zone for their lobby
and a different zone for their gym.
Furthermore, you can extend the use of your existing Harmony device to play
the second zone of music and messaging in your business or power your
Messagingon-Hold system. No additional players are needed! For more
information regarding messaging, please refer to this document.
A zone can contain one or multiple playlists, which are used for scheduling
music on the Harmony players.
Music is added using a hierarchical list of slots; the closer to the top, the
higher the priority. This is useful when two slots share the same schedule. In
this case, the playlist that is higher than the other will play. If the
highest playlist cannot be played, the next one will start.
In order to avoid unwanted silence, each playlist has one default slot that
cannot be deleted. It is permanently valid (its schedule cannot be modified)
and is always located at the bottom of the hierarchy. If no other slot is
valid, the default will play.
MULTI-ZONE CONFIGURATION
Besides scheduling, the user can choose which players will be “tuned” to the
playlist. These players are the ones found in the workgroup (and recursive)
where the user is logged in.
If a company is configured with only one zone of music, then the Music
application will display the playlists from that particular zone. However, if
the company is configured with multiple zones, then the application will show
the available zones.
MULTI-ZONE CONFIGURATION
In a multi-zone configuration, the user must select the zone in which the music must be scheduled (by adding playlists).
- Click on the Zones button and select a zone.
- Add new playlists or manage existing ones.
SINGLE ZONE CONFIGURATION
As mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, in a single zone configuration, the application will display the playlists from the zone (the user no longer needs to select the zone first).
- Click on the Zones button and select a zone.

ADD A PLAYLIST
In order to add or edit a Playlist, click on the “Playlists” button from the
menu (in a single zone configuration) or select a zone (in a multi-zone
configuration).
The playlist with a star mark is the default playlist. Only one playlist can
be set as default. Click on the “+” button from the upper right corner to add
a new playlist.
- Back: Return to playlist library.
- Save: Save the changes made to the playlist.
- Settings: Set the playlist override or if the playlist should be set as default.
- Delete: Delete the playlist.
- Playlist info: Set the playlist name. 120 characters max.
- Devices: Set which players must play the playlist (“view today” is coming soon).
- Add default music: The default slot appears on freshly created playlists that don’t have a slot added. After the default slot is filled, standard “nondefault” slots can be created.

**TUNE IN DEVICES
TO THE PLAYLIST
Tuning in a device to a playlist means that the player will start playing the content that is received from the playlist. A player can be tuned in only to one playlist at a time.
- Back: Return to playlist library.
- Save: Save the changes made to the playlist.
- Tuned in Shows the devices that are already playing this Playlist’s content.
- Tuned to no playlists: This shows the devices that are tuned to no playlists and can be tuned into the current playlist.
- Tuned to other playlists: This shows the devices that are tuned to other playlists and can be tuned into the current playlist (this section does not appear in the screenshot).
ADD SCHEDULED MUSIC
Playlists can play both mixes and stations. For each mix or station, the user can set a schedule.
- Click on the “Add scheduled music”.

Back: Return to the playlist.

Save: Save the changes made to the playlist.

Delete: Delete the scheduled music slot.

Music/Schedule/Locations: Switch between the music, the schedule, and the addresses.

Silence: Set the music slot as silence (this forces the player to play no sound during the scheduled interval).

Added Music: Show the current added station/mix. Only one station/mix can be added.

Music That Can Be Added: Show which stations or mixes can be added. This is done by clicking on the “+” icon.

Back: Return to the playlist.

Done: Save the changes made to the playlist.

Override: Allow or deny the users to change the music while playing by using the remote control.

Schedule: Set the validity interval.

Weekday: Set the weekdays (in this example, the scheduled music for this slot will play only on Mondays).

Back: Return to the playlist.

Done: Save the changes made to the playlist.

A-Z/Groups: Choose between seeing all the available locations or groups.

Addressing: Set the addressing rules per location or group. The force allows (strong green): the music will always be addressed for the location/group, even if its parent has a “deny” rule.
Force deny (strong red): the music will always be denied for the
location/group, even if its parent has a “deny” rule.
Allow but inherit (light green): the music will be addressed for the
location/group because it inherits the addressing rules of its parent
permissions.
Deny but inherit (light red): the music will not be addressed for the
location/group because it inherits the addressing rules of its parent
permissions.
- Down arrow: Move the slot down.
- Up arrow: Move the slot up.
- Swap arrow: Change the content of the default playlist.
Moving a slot up or down means that the priority increases or decreases. As a reminder, the higher the slot, the bigger the priority. When the system decides what to play next, it starts with the first slot on the top and continues down until it finds a slot that has a scheduled interval that matches the current date.
- Close: Return to the playlist details.
- Done: Save the playlist properties.
- Set as default playlist: Set as default for all the devices that are not tuned to any playlist in particular.
- Schedule override: Allow or deny the user to change the slot while playing, using the remote control.
