MAINTENANCE

USE

Your MALM chronograph from isa watch designed with the greatest care and love for materials, quality, design and performance. At MALM, we believe in the importance of producing quality watches and therefore spend much of our time on product development and quality assurance,

When using your MALM chronograph, the watch will be exposed to different types of stresses and strains. Like many other advanced watches and gauges, within a very small volume a large number of components contribute to handle all the functions. It is therefore important that you take care of your watch and do not expose it to unnecessary and abnormal stress. The watch should be serviced regularly and should always be preassure tested after a battery replacement. Such services should always be performed by MALM or by a watchmaker for warranty terms to apply.

Navigation related calculations and other general calculations can be performed using the chronograph along with the bezel. These calculations should be seen as approximate references and a complement to more reliable, digital calculations.

GOOD TO KNOW

The daily use of any wrist watch may results in scratches and marks over time. This is considered to be a natural result of wear and tear. There are various recommendations as to whether these scratches and marks can be polished. We recommend that you always contact MALM or a watchmaker before trying this on your own. Though regular cleaning with a soft damp brush will keep your watch clean and shiny.

If you wear your watch with MALMs leather straps, it is good to be familiar with the aspects that shorten the life of genuine leather products. Even though MALM’s leather straps are of the highest quality, like other leather products, they will have varying length of life depending on how they are used and cared for over time. Water cosmetics and sweat, for example, shortens the life of your leather strap.

Like other valuable items you should treat your MALM watch with great care. It is important that you do not expose the watch to unnecessary impacts, chemicals, solvents, hazardous gases or magnetic fields. Your MALM watch is designed to work smoothly between -5° C and + 50°C.

WATER RESISTANCE
Water resistancy in watches are mostly measured in ATM (atmosphere). Your MALM chronograph watch is waterproof up to 10 ATM, that is 100 meters/328 feet. In practice, this means you can shower and swim with the watch. However, you should not use the watch for diving since 100 meters do not refer to 100 meters of water depth.

CONDENSATION

In case of fast and high temperature variations, a so-called negative pressure may occur in your watch. A possible consequence of this is that condensation occurs. If condensation occurs, there is liquid or moisture inside the watch (which you may not see). In case of condensation, the watch must be handed in immediately to MALM or a watchmaker whom then will open the watch and remove the liquid and / or the moisture. If you choose not to open your watch, moisture may penetrate the movement and destroy it. The warranty does not cover damges caused by condensation as this is not due to any manutacturing defect. Even divers watches are not protected against condensation. Typical occasions when condensation can occur are, for example, in saunas, ice baths and activities in strict cold environments.

DISPOSAL

The consumer plays an important role in reducing the risk of handling electrical waste and electronic equipment such as batteries and accumulators. Some batteries, accumulators and components used in electronic equipment may contain hazardous substances that can cause damage to the environment and endanger human and animal health unless properly disposed of. If you can not reuse your battery it should be discarded at a council or recycling facility.
