INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

IMPORTANT

Installation and service must be performed by a licensed professional installer (or equivalent) or a service agency.
DO NOT paint this SAQM. Doing so will prevent components from functioning correctly.
The SAQM is intended to be installed on a flat wall surface at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) above the floor with a minimum distance of 6 inches (152 mm) from the thermostat.
For further details on the SAQM placement, see the installation and setup guide.
Recommend connecting the S40 and SAQM to the thermostat’s R and C terminals using the provided splice connectors (see wiring diagram).
If additional equipment is connected to the Indoor unit’s R and C terminals (i.e., equipment interface or damper control modules or PureAir S) then a dedicated power source should be installed.
Never block the air vents located on the bottom of the SAQM.

Smart Air Quality Monitor

Install the SAQM near the thermostat, with a minimum distance of six inches from the thermostat.
Use the included wall template to mark the mounting holes and make sure the SAQM is level. Install using the included screws and make adjustment for proper screw depth for mounting purposes.
Using standard thermostat wiring, connect the C and R terminals of the SAQM to the thermostat’s C and R terminals using the included three-wire splice connectors as illustrated in the following wiring diagram.
- IMPORTANT
- Seal wire hole in wall to prevent internal wall containments from affecting sensors.
After power connections are completed, mount the SAQM to the wall.
The SAQM will automatically go into pairing mode for two minutes. Pairing can be restarted by pressing the pairing button for three seconds.
Verify that the side switch is in the ON (Up) position.
Download and install the Lennox® Smart Technician App if not already installed on your mobile device.
The following procedure is assuming the Lennox® S40 Smart Thermostat has already been commissioned. From the thermostat home screen, go to Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings > View Support Service ControlCenter and select Connect To Lennox Smart Technician App.
The thermostat will start broadcasting its Thermostat ID.
Start the Lennox® Smart Technician App and follow the screen prompts until you reach Service Center.
To add a SAQM, select Equipment Settings > Add Device.
Follow the screen prompts to add the SAQM.

IMPORTANT

DO NOT interrupt the adding of the SAQM. If interrupted the device will need to be factory-reset by pressing the pairing button for 10 seconds. After the factory reset is completed, a flashing green light on the SAQM will indicate it is ready for paring.
Walk the homeowner through use of the SAQM including where to find and download the Lennox® Smart Thermostat App. Refer to the Lennox® S40 Smart Thermostat User Guide on how to use the smart device.

Field-Provided Parts

If the indoor unit transformer cannot be used to power the SAQM, then either use a field-provided dedicated 24VAC transformer (10P17) or 24VAC wall adapter (18M13).
