Description
Critical building systems in essential facilities must provide continued operation during seismic events. Continued operation for the fire alarm system includes backup power. Batteries are the primary form of backup power and must remain functional in cases where the primary AC power is lost. The Potter Seismic Bracket Kit ensures that, during seismic events, the fire alarm system batteries remain secured to prevent disconnection and movement that could damage systems components. The Seismic Kit is used on Potter Control Panels and Power Supplies.
Applications include power generation, transportation hubs, hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities.

- Installation instructions
Power down the panel or power supply and remove battery connections. Clean the back of the bracket and the back of the cabinet with the provided alcohol wipe, (see Figure 1). Apply the adhesive tape to the bracket ensuring that the tape covers the entire back of the bracket to the edges, (see Figure 2).
Note: Once the adhesive tape is applied and the bracket is mounted on the cabinet, it is extremely difficult to remove the bracket, especially without damaging the bracket and/or cabinet. Consider aligning and marking the location prior to mounting in the cabinet.
Move the batteries forward in the cabinet and apply the bracket behind the batteries. The batteries may need to be tilted slightly forward during this time in order to fit properly. Move the batteries and the bracket towards the back of the cabinet leaving an approximately 1/8” gap between the top of the batteries and the bracket and apply (see Figure 3). Ensure that the bracket is centered in the cabinet and on the batteries without touching the terminals on top terminal mounted batteries. When replacing batteries, pull from the back of the battery and tilt forward until free from the bracket. Place new batteries under the bracket
