FAQs
HOW DO I UPDATE THE CAT Q10 FIRMWARE?
The default setting is for automatic firmware updates. We strongly recommend
that you keep this option enabled to remain up to date with the latest
software and security updates. Should you wish to disable this feature at any
time you can do so by logging into the MyQ10 portal and navigating to the
Firmware page and deselecting the ‘Auto update’ option:
Settings > System > Firmware version > Auto update
HOW DO I CHECK FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE MANUALLY?
If you have disabled auto firmware updates and want to check to see if there
is a new firmware for your device. You can navigate to the Firmware page and
compare the ‘Current version’ against ‘Latest version’. If there is an update
for your device, you will be able to click the ‘FOTA UPGRADE’ button at the
bottom of the page. If this button is greyed out, then there is no update
available for your device.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN MY CAT Q10 IS PERFORMING A FIRMWARE UPDATE?
The LEDs will flash green in sequence one after another until the update is
complete. Please do not power off your device off during this activity. The
device will perform an update at power on if one is available. Again this is
shown by green running lights.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET MY Wi-Fi PASSWORD?
You can log in to the MyQ10 portal and change your Wi-Fi password from the Wi-
Fi page.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET MY ADMIN PASSWORD?
If you have changed and forgotten your admin password, you can factory reset
your device which will return to the device to factory settings. All user
information will be lost, and you will need to connect to the device using the
original Wi-Fi password. This will also return the admin password to ‘admin’.
To factory reset your device, ensure the device is powered on. Remove the back
cover, then press the ‘reset’ button on the back of the device. The LEDs on
the device will blink green in order three times, then shortly after the
device will enter its normal boot sequence.
CAN I TETHER THE DEVICE TO MY PC?
Yes, you can. If you connect your device to a PC or laptop and it is powered
on, it should create and internet connection via your USB connection. You can
also access the MyQ10 portal through this connection.
WHY IS THE Wi-Fi LED ON MY DEVICE NOT ON?
This is because ‘Power saving’ mode has been enabled on the device. Wi-Fi is
turned off to save power when no devices are actively connected. To resolve
this issue simply tap the power key and wait approximately 30 seconds for the
Wi-Fi to turn back on. ‘Power saving’ mode is by default disabled on the
device.
WHY IS THE NETWORK LED ON MY DEVICE BLINKING RED?
This is because the device has no cellular network connection. Please check:
- Is there a SIM card inserted?
- Is the SIM card inserted the right way up?
- Is there a SIM PIN active on the SIM card?
- If so, you will need to log into the MyQ10 portal and enter the SIM PIN to activate the SIM card.
- Have you travelled abroad? If so, you will need to log into the MyQ10 portal and enable data roaming.
- Has the SIM reached its data limit?
- Has your Cat Q10 loaded the correct APN?
- You can check this by logging into the MyQ10 portal, navigating to ‘Internet > APN’. If there is no APN showing, you may need to add one manually. If the APN is wrong, you can manually edit it. You may need to contact your operator to find out the correct APN settings if you are unsure.
WHY DOES MY CAT Q10 NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET?
Please check the following:
- Device is charged and powered on
- A SIM card is inserted to the device
- Check the led indicators on the device
- Ensure you have network connectivity
- Ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi or tethered to the Cat Q10.
- Check you have not set and exceeded a data limit on your device.
- Check you have a valid APN.
- MyQ10 portal > Internet > APN
- Here you can modify or add new APNs.

VIEWING THE E-LABEL
To view the regulatory information on your device, do the following: From the Home Screen, tap > Settings > Help > Privacy Policy.
CE SAR COMPLIANCE
This device meets the EU requirements (1999/519/EC) on the limitation of
exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields by way of health
protection.
- The limits are part of extensive recommendations for the protection of the general public. These recommendations have been developed and checked by independent scientific organizations through regular and thorough evaluations of scientific studies. The unit of measurement for the European Council’s recommended limit for mobile devices is the “Specific Absorption Rate” (SAR), and the SAR limit is 2.0 W/ kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue. It meets the requirements of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP).
- For body worn operation, this device has been tested and meets the ICNIRP exposure guidelines and the European Standard EN 62209-2, for use with dedicated accessories. Use of other accessories which contain metals may not ensure compliance with ICNIRP exposure guidelines.
- SAR is measured with the device at a separation of 5 mm to the body, while transmitting at the highest certified output power level in all of the device’s frequency bands.
- The highest reported SAR values under the CE regulatory for the phone are listed below:
- Body SAR: 1.206 W/kg, Limbs SAR: 2.177 W/kg
- To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free accessory or other, similar options to keep this device away from your head and body. The device must be carried 5mm from the body to ensure exposure levels remain at or below the as-tested levels. Choose the belt clips, holsters, or other similar body-worn accessories which do not contain metallic components to support operation in this manner. Cases with metal parts may change the RF performance of the device, including its compliance with RF exposure guidelines in a manner that has not been tested or certified. Thus, use of such accessories should be avoided.
To reduce the level of exposure to radiation, please do the following:
- Use the device in goo d reception conditions to reduce the amount of radiation received (in particular in underground car parks and on train or car journeys).
- For pregnant women, please keep the device away from the stomach
- Use the device away from genital parts.
