TRAILER COUPLER

OPERATING INSTRUCTION

WARNING IMPORTANT
Read carefully and understand all instructions before operating. Failure to follow may result in serious personal injury!
The Trailer Coupler must be properly secured to the Trailer Ball. Before each use check to ensure the adjustment is maintained and there is no play between Trailer Coupler and Trailer Ball.
If needed, tighten the adjustment nut underneath the underjaw, so that there is no play between the Trailer Coupler and the Trailer Ball. Correct adjustment will allow the handle to lock and to be released with moderate pressure applied to the Trigger.
Failure to properly inspect and adjust the adjustment nut can result in uncoupling.
Failure to secure Trailer Coupler properly, it could come loose while the trailer is in motion, possibly causing property damage, SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, or DEATH.

OPERATION

  1. Place the Trailer Coupler on the trailer Tongue (not supplied). See illustrations below. The Tongue width must exactly match with width of the Trailer Coupler (see Specifications); otherwise, do not use the Trailer Coupler.

  2. Match up the holes in the side of the Trailer Coupler with the holes in the trailer Tongue. See illustration below. If no holes are present there, use the Trailer Coupler as a template, to mark the Tongue through the holes and drill. Be sure that the Trailer Coupler is seated well on the hitch before marking for drilling.
Note: Must check for hidden wires in the drilling path, before drilling.

  3. Acquire two SAE Grade 5 or Metric Grade 8.8 steel bolts the same diameter as the holes in the Trailer Coupler, and 1/2 in. longer that the width of the Trailer Coupler. Also acquire two flat washers, and two hex lock nuts (Hardware not supplied).

  4. Place the Bolts through the Trailer Coupler holes (shown below), and secure from the other
side first with the flat washer, then the hex lock nut. Securely tighten with a wrench (not supplied).PRINCESS-8096935-Trailer-

  5. Pull up on the Trigger, and lift up on the Handle.

  6. Place the Trailer Coupler over the trailer ball and pull back on the Trigger, and push down on the Handle until the Trigger locks in the slot. Pull up and down on the Trailer Coupler to make sure the Tongue ball is fitting snugly in the Trailer Coupler. There should be no play between the Tongue ball and the Trailer Coupler.

  7. Attach a Safety Pin and retaining clip {both not included).PRINCESS-8096935-Trailer-Coupler-02

WARNING: Before each use, must check to ensure the adjustment is maintained and there is no play between Trailer coupler and Trailer ball. If necessary, tighten the adjustment nut until no play is present. If the adjustment nut is too tight, the handle will not lock. After the Adjustment Nut is properly adjusted, pull back on the Trigger and push down on the Handle until the Trigger locks in the slot. Pull up on Handle firmly to make sure the Trigger is locked in place and the Handle can not move.
Failure to properly inspect and adjust the adjustment nut can result in uncoupling.
