  • After use always disconnect the liquid gas cylinder.
  • Store liquid gas cylinders away from heating or cooking devices and other light or heat sources in a well-ventilated area out of the reach of children.
  • Never store liquid gas cylinders in unventilated areas or below ground level (funnel-shaped holes in the ground).
  • Never store liquid gas cylinders in buildings such as garages.
  • Do not store liquid gas cylinders on their side.
  • Keep liquid gas cylinders away from direct sunlight. The temperature should not exceed 50 °C.
Operating the device safely

WARNING!

  • Beware of suffocation.
While burning liquid gas, the device also consumes oxygen. When used indoors, there is a risk of suffocation due to insufficient oxygen. Only use the device outdoors. Under no circumstances use it indoors. Never use the device in a garage, porch or tent.

  • If there is a leak on your device (smell of gas):

    • Immediately attempt to turn off the cylinder valve.
    • Remove the device to a well-ventilated location away from any ignition source.
    • Check for leaks using soapy water.
    • Do not try to detect leaks using a flame.
    • If the odor continues, keep away from the device and immediately call your gas supplier or your fire department.
  • Do not use this device if it is leaking, damaged or does not operate properly.

  • Check that seals between the device and the gas cylinder are in place and in good condition before connecting the gas cylinder.

  • Do not use the device if it has damaged or worn seals.

  • Only use the hose assembly as supplied with this device for connec-tion to the cylinder – DO NOT USE ADAPTERS.

  • Avoid twisting or kinking the flexible hose.

  • This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

  • Never change the nozzles, injector or burners.

  • Use the device for cooking only. Never use it for other purposes.

  • Avoid using the device near combustible materials.

  • Keep the area around the device free from fat, alcoholic substances, plastic and flammable materials (e.g. curtains, cloths or kitchen mate-rials).

  • Only use pots and pans with an even base and a diameter not larger than the grids on the hob (approx. 205 mm). The pots and pans should be large enough to cover the flame. If the flame is not covered, items of clothing could catch fire.
Pots and pans of the correct size also improve the efficiency of the hob.

  • Ensure that pots and pans are stable when cooking.

  • Never allow pot or pan handles to protrude over the edge of the hob. Turn the handles inwards, making sure that they are not positioned over other burners. This reduces the risk of spillage, the ignition of flammable materials and serious scalding.

  • Avoid boil over and spillage. Pots which boil over can cause smoke and fires.

  • Proceed with caution when heating oil or fat, as they can ignite under excessive heat.

  • Only use dry pot holders to avoid steam build-up. Do not use towels or cloths as these can catch fire.

  • Do not use the device as a space heater.

Using the device

Placing the device
When selecting the location for cooking, observe the following instructions:

  • Set up the device outside in a well-ventilated place. Do not place it in a dip to pre-vent any gases from accumulating there.
  • The ground must be firm, level and stable.
  • Keep the device protected from the wind.
  • Never place the device near flammable materials, even when cooling down. Keep a distance of at least 300 mm to the side and rear and at least 800 mm over-head.
  • Never place the device near flammable liquids. Keep a distance of at least 8 m.
  • Observe the safety instructions, see chapter “Safety precautions when handling liquid gas” on page 11.

  1. After connecting the device to the gas supply, check the gas pipe for leakage using a foaming agent, e. g. with soap. Never use a naked flame to test for gas leaks.

Igniting the device

WARNING! Beware of injury

  • Only use the device when you or another person can attend to it.
  • Ignite the burners as soon as you have turned on the gas supply. Otherwise gas can accumulate in the burner area and could cause an explosion.
  • The complete ignition process must be visible from above and must not be hidden by pots placed on top of the hob.

NOTE

  • While it is operating, you will be able to hear a slight noise caused by the gas flowing out. This is completely normal.
  • Smoke can occur when using it for the first time. This is caused by deposits of machine oil burning and stops after approx. 10 minutes.
  1. Proceed as follows:
    – Igniting the burners: fig. 8, page 7.
    – Igniting the grill burner (CSG103 only): fig. 9, page 8.

  2. If the burner does not ignite after 3 attempts, turn off the gas and wait 10 seconds for the gas to clear.

  3. Try again with the piezo igniter or light the device manually using a long match or long neck lighter (fig.10, page 8). Do not use a cigarette lighter.

  4. After lighting, check that the burner has properly ignited. The flames must be burning along the whole length of the burner.

Change the gas cylinder in a well-ventilated location.
Ensure that there are no open flames in the vicinity.
Only replace the gas cylinder when the portable grill is switched off.

To check whether the gas cylinder is empty gently rock it while upright from side to side. If you can hear or feel liquid this indicates the bottle still contains gas.

  1. Completely close the valve on the gas cylinder.

  2. Unscrew the regulator from the cylinder.

  3. Check the condition of the gas hose.
Replace the hose line if the material is brittle or porous.

  • Proceed as follows: fig. 13, page 9.
  • Have a suitable authorized and qualified person perform a thorough examination of the device at least every 5 years.

Troubleshooting

Due to unforeseen circumstances the appliance may not operate as designed.
Indications of this are burner flash-backs, large soft yellow flames, flames rising exten-sively away from the burner and the appliance not igniting or remaining alight.

In these cases, check your gas supply to ensure there is sufficient gas, no leaks and the valves are opened sufficiently for use. If this is the case and the problem/s still persist, you will need to contact a suitably qualified authorized person to ser-vice your appliance.

Repairs to the gas supply parts on the device may only be carried out by a qualified technician.

  1. Shut off the gas supply immediately if a fault occurs.
  2. Check again that the device has been assembled correctly and the parts are undamaged, especially the gas hose.
  3. Replace the damaged parts.
  4. Only use the device again once all the faults have been rectified.
