Getting started
First steps
- Check your box to make sure that it is in good condition before opening.
- Open the box by removing any white straps with the cable cutters or a box cutter.
- Remove the bike from the box (Note: Please be careful when doing this, there may be staples from the box sticking out).
- Remove the packaging from the bike (Be careful not to scratch the bike when taking off the packaging, as this WILL NOT be covered by warranty.)
- Remove the front wheel (Note: Be careful not to bend the spokes, this WILL NOT be covered by warranty.
Tools needed
- 15mm Pedal Wrench
- Air Pump & Presta Adapter
- Cable Cutters
- 4mm & 5mm Allen Key
Most of these tools are included in a small box in your package, along with safety reflectors and your pedals
Installing the seat
-
Insert the seat post into the seat tube (Make sure the latch is open).
-
Set the seat post at your desired height. We recommend that it is at the height of the riders hip. (Pro Tip: your knees should NOT go over your waist when riding.)
-
Once the seat post is in the desired height. Close the clamp latch, and tighten the bolt as necessary.
Installing the handlebar
-
Make sure that the stem is facing forward when doing this.
-
Unscrew the 4 bolts from the stem with a 4mm Allen Key.
-
Insert the handlebar and hold it in place.
-
Screw the 4 levers back Into the stem using the 4mm Allen Key Key. Make sure they are not too tight, but tight enough to hold the handlebar gently in place.
-
Adjust the handlebar according to your liking.
-
Once the handlebar is to your liking tighten the bolts as tight as possible. Tighten them a little bit at a time to get an even latch.
Installing the front wheel
-
Prepare the quick release axle (Make sure to read the Warning sign on the Product)
-
Unscrew the side of the quick release axle with the bolt, and remove it. Make sure to keep the spring and the bolt together.
-
Insert the wheel onto the fork. Make sure to check the wheel for an arrow that indicates the motion in which the wheel is supposed to go facing forward.
-
Insert the quick release axle (do not insert the axle beforehand, this can damage the springs, and this IS NOT covered by warranty)
-
Tighten the left bolt and the quick release little by little to keep the wheel centered
-
Close the latch Twist it clockwise to tighten the latch more.
Adjusting the brakes
-
Before adjusting the brakes we need to align the brake pads to the CNC brake lines. (Note: sometimes the brake pads already come aligned so step 1-3 are optional)
-
Loosen the brake pad bolt of the brake pad, and align the pad to the CNC brake line.
-
Tighten the brake pad bolt. Then repeat this to the other side if necessary.
-
Once this is done, adjust the brake line by first switching the brake lever up
-
Then unscrew the brake line bolt using a 4mm allen key
-
Adjust the brake line according to your liking. (tighter brakes means more sensitive brakes, looser brakes means less sensitive brakes)
-
Once it is all to your liking, use a 4mm allen key to retighten the bolt
-
DON’T forget to switch the brake lever back down. Neglecting to do so can cause your brakes to malfunction resulting in serious injury or death.
Installing the Pedals
-
To insert the pedals you will need a 15mm pedal wrench.
-
Make sure that the pedals are in the right side. The right pedal goes on the right and the left pedal goes on the left. For easier understanding the right side is the side where the chain is, also known as the drive side. The pedals are marked “R” for right and “L” for left, on the front side of the bolt or the pedal itself. (Fitting the pedals on the wrong side can cause damage to the crank arm and pedals, this may result in serious injury or death, and IS NOT covered by warranty.)
-
Screw in the right pedal clockwise (not doing so will damage the thread)
-
Use the 15mm Pedal Wrench to tighten the pedal. Make sure the pedals are on tight, but don’t over-tighten them or you will strip your pedal, this damage IS NOT covered by warranty. (Reminder: check for loose pedals before each ride.)
-
Screw in the left pedal counter-clockwise, then repeat step 4
Inflating the tires
-
Remove the valve cap and then unscrew the presto valve nut.
-
If you have a Presto/French Pump, insert your pump head into the presto valve. If you have a Schrader/American Pump you’ll need to screw on the adapter first and then insert the pump head into the adapter.
-
Inflate your tire according to the tire’s recommendation. The stock tires that come with this bike need to be from 3.5-6.0 PSI
-
Remove the adapter if necessary then retighten the Prester
-
Screw the valve cap back on.
Final Touches
-
Insert cable into the cable holder provided in the small white box along with your package
-
Screw the bolt in using a Philips screw driver, to secure the cable in place. Repeat this with both cable holders.
Brake Levers
Sometimes the brakes will come out correctly, however other times, they may come out facing down. Don’t worry we will show you how to adjust them to your desired position. All you will need to have is a 5mm allen key…
- Use the 5mm Allen key to slightly loosen the bolt holding the brakes. Loosen it just enough so that you can move it around.
- Once it is loose, adjust the brakes to your desired position. (We recommend that the brake is parallel to the floor. This will help you enjoy of a smoother ride.)
- Once it is at the position which you desire, use the 5mm allen key to tighten the bolt back up.
- Now repeat steps 1-3 with the other brake.
Before you ride
- Does the chain have any noticeable damage?
- Is gear shifting carried out smoothly?
- Are any of the parts loose?
- Are all parts attached securely to the frame and/or handlebar?
- Does the bicycle make any abnormal noises when riding?
