The built-in battery is only to save files urgently in case of sudden power off. The dash cam is powered by the car. The car camera will automatically switch on/off when the car engine ignition is on/off. No need to charge the dash cam or worry about the battery level. It is not designed to work without external power supply, so please keeps the camera connecting to car’s cigarette lighter socket, while you starts the car, your car is supplying power to the dash cam, the dash cam will turns on and record video. However, once the car turns off, the dash cam will turn off and stop recording as well. If you don’t want to connect the cigarette lighter, you can also hard wire the camera to the car’s fuse box. However, once the car shuts down, the dash cam shuts down and also stops recording. Therefore, it does not react to movements and impacts after the engine is switched off.
