SwitchBot Motion Sensor

The product user guide contains product features, how to use, and the operating procedure. Read the user manual carefully to get the best experience and avoid unnecessary damage. Device Instruction

Preparation

• A smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth 4.2 or above.
• Download the SwitchBot app
• Create a SwitchBot account and sign in
• (Optional) If you intend to use the Cloud Service feature, you need to set up a SwitchBot Hub Mini (sold separately) and connect your phone to the internet

Getting Started

• Remove the Battery Case. Install two AAA batteries into the battery box following the “+” and “-“ signs. Then put the Battery Case back.

• Open the SwitchBot app and sign in.

• On the app, tap the “+” icon on the top right of the homepage. Tap the “Motion Sensor” icon and follow the instructions to complete the setup.

Safety Information

• Keep the device away from humid or hot environments.
• Remove the batteries when not used for long period of time.
• Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.
• Do not use any other batteries than those recommended.

Detection Range

Light Sensor

• Light Sensor is used for detecting whether it is bright or dark in the target environment.
• You can define the threshold for being bright or being dark in the app. Navigate to the Settings page of Motion Sensor in the app for more information.

How to Use

• Reset Button facing up
  The recommended height to install Motion Sensor is 1.2m-2m to the ground. The detection range will be reduced when it is placed lower than 1.2m. There will be detection blind spots when it is placed higher than 2m.

• Reset Button facing down (for Pet Owners)
  If you are a pet owner, it is recommended to install Motion Sensor to a spot 0.1-0.2m higher than your pet(s), with the Reset Button facing down. You can also install Motion Sensor to a spot slightly lower than your chest to prevent false alarms triggered by your pets.

• Place Motion Sensor without the Base
  Place Motion Sensor directly on a table or shelf or stick it to a flat surface using the 3M Sticker.

Note: Make sure the Lens is facing towards the desired area to be detected and it is placed close to the edge of the table or shelf.

• Place Motion Sensor with the Base
  • Mount the Base to the back or the bottom of Motion Sensor. The Base can be attached to an iron surface or a magnet.

  * You can also stick the Base to a flat surface using the 3M Sticker. After Motion Sensor is properly installed, tilt it to a desired angle.

Note: Make sure the Lens is facing towards the desired area to be detected and it is placed close to the edge of the table or shelf.

• Tips for applying the 3M Sticker
  Make sure the target surface is dry and clean. Apply pressure to Motion Sensor for 60 seconds after installation. Keep it away from any heat source such as light bulbs.

Battery Replacement, Firmware Update and Factory Reset

• Battery Replacement
  Remove the Battery Case. Follow the “+” and “-” marks, replace the old batteries with new ones. Put the Battery Case back.

• Firmware Update
  Make sure you have the up to date firmware by upgrading in time.

• Factory Reset
  Long press the Reset Button for 15 seconds or until the LED Indicator Light is on.
  Note: After the device is reset, all settings will be set to the default values and the activity logs will be erased.

Q&A

• Q: It is not sensitive within the detection range set during high temperature.
  A: When the room temperature reaches 97°F (36°C), it is very similar to the human body temperature. Motion Sensor will be less sensitive in this case. Please cool your room by turning on the AC or fan.

• Q: There is a lot of false alarms.
  A: Adjust the angle of Motion Sensor to avoid window area, heat sources, and any areas with constantly moving objects.

• Q: How to enable Cloud Service?
  A: You need to purchase a SwitchBot Hub Mini (sold separately) and set it up under your account. Then navigate to the app homepage. If you see a cloud icon showing up on the Motion Sensor device card, it means it is being scanned by Hub Mini. Navigate to the Settings page of Motion Sensor and you can enable Cloud Service from there.

  • Using the product for any purpose other than that for which the product is intended or failing to follow the instructions for maintenance, operation and service of the product.
  • Damage to the product by a natural disaster, the intervention of an unauthorized person or mechanically through the fault of the buyer (e.g. during transport, cleaning by inappropriate means, etc.).
  • Natural wear and aging of consumables or components during use (such as batteries, etc.).
  • Exposure to adverse external influences, such as sunlight and other radiation or electromagnetic fields, fluid intrusion, object intrusion, mains overvoltage, electrostatic discharge voltage (including lightning), faulty supply or input voltage and inappropriate polarity of this voltage, chemical processes such as used power supplies, etc.
  • If anyone has made modifications, modifications, alterations to the design or adaptation to change or extend the functions of the product compared to the purchased design or use of non-original components.
