PersonalFit™ Flex breast shield and connector

Product description:  The reusable PersonalFit Flex breast shield is compatible with the Medela breast pumps Swing Maxi Flex, Swing Flex and Freestyle Flex. PersonalFit Flex breast shields are available in different sizes (see Product variants). Refer to the pump manual for instruction on operating the pump and pump set.

Intended use

Breast shield
The breast shield is intended to contact the breast and nipple tissue of the user and to be connected to the connector assembly of PersonalFit PLUS and PersonalFit Flex in order to apply vacuum at the breast and channel breast milk from the breast to the connector assembly.

Connector
The connector assembly is intended to be connected to the Breast Shields of PersonalFit PLUS and PersonalFit Flex as well as to the Medela retail bottle in order to apply vacuum at the breast and channel breast milk from the breast to the bottle.

  • Furthermore the connector assembly is intended to provide a leakproof barrier between fluid and vacuum loaded connector components and the tubing (motor unit).
  • Furthermore the connector assembly is intended to provide a tubing port.

Indication for use

  • Refer to the manual of the pumps listed under product description.

Important safety information

Caution: The breast shield and connector are personal care items intended for use by a single user only. It should not be shared between mothers.

  • Use Medela original accessories only.
  • Inspect before each use. Replace mouldy, damaged or worn parts.
  • Never leave packaging and components unattended. Keep them out of reach of children.
  • Pressing shields too firmly onto the breasts may affect the milk flow.
  • If problems or pain occur, consult a breastfeeding specialist.

Cleaning and hygiene

  • Perform all steps as described in the instructions for use of the Medela breast pump disassemble, wash, sanitize.
  • Clean the breast shield immediately after use to avoid drying up of milk residues and to prevent growth of bacteria.
  • Only use drinking-quality water for cleaning.
  • Take care not to damage parts when using a brush.
  • Do not use abrasive washing-up liquids/detergents when cleaning the breast pump or pump set parts.
  • Disassemble the pump-set into its individual parts.

Wash – before 1st use and after each use

  • Rinse all parts with cold, clear drinking-quality water (approx. 20 °C).
  • Clean these parts with plenty of warm, soapy water (approx. 30 °C). Use a commercially available washing-up liquid, preferably without artificial fragrances and colouring  (pH neutral).
  • Rinse the parts with cold, clear drinking-quality water for 10–15 seconds (approx. 20 °C). Dry after washing.

Sanitise – before 1st use and once a day

  • Cover the breast shield with water and boil at least 5 minutes. As an alternative to boiling use Quick Clean bags in the microwave in accordance with the instructions.

Drying / Storage

  • Dry with a clean cloth or leave to dry on a clean cloth. Put the clean parts in a clean storage bag or a clean environment. Do not store parts in an airtight container/bag if moist. It is important
  • that all residual moisture dries.

Choosing your PersonalFit Flex breast shield size 2
The breast shield size could change over the duration of your pumping experience. At all times during this period, the breast shield must fit correctly. A correctly fitting breast shield helps to prevent compression of the milk ducts during pumping, supports optimal emptying of the breast and helps to maximize milk output.
