2023 MODE QUICK START GUIDE
2023 Stealth MODE
Welcome to MODELIFE
LIVE FREE.
EXPLORE ENDLESSLY.
TELL BETTER STORIES.
This Quick Start Guide should be a handy tool for basic information about the
MODE. For more thorough information, check out the full User Guide provided
with the vehicle and available on
StorytellerOverland.com.
Power up the M-Power Energy Storage System (ESS)
Push the Volta button to turn on the M-Power ESS to operate such things as the
cabin lights, outlets, water systems, heating and cooling.
Check the state of charge. Do not leave the M-Power System completely
depleted. Follow recovery instructions in the User Guide if the system gets
fully depleted.
Switch the inverter on or off
Press the
inverter button and then toggle the inverter on or off as needed. This is
located on the Volta Screen’s inverter control screen. To save power, keep the
inverter off when the 110V system is not needed.
The inverter must be on to operate the following:
Inverter Power
✦ air conditioner
✦ microwave
✦ cooktop
✦ 110V wall outlets
M-Power Energy Storage System Charge the M-Power System Option 1 Plug into shore power.
The system will automatically charge when plugged into shore power. The charge
rate can be changed from the Volta screen and should be set 5A below the shore
power available to avoid tripping the shore power circuit. See User Guide for
additional details.
Option 2 Drive with the M-Power System on. Engine must be over 1500 RPM to
charge. The solar panels can add energy when the M-Power System is on, but not
enough to operate the larger items.
MODE COM Control System
→ With
M-Power on, touch the MODE COM screen anywhere to wake it up.
→ Turn on the lights to put the screen to sleep.
Lights can be controlled through the MODE COM screen or switches located
throughout the vehicle. For physical switches, the following functions are
available (except on the reading lights):
✦ Single tap—turns off/on (back to last setting)
✦ Double tap—returns to full brightness
✦ Press & hold—dims Cabin Climate Control
Select A/C or Heat from the MODE COM home screen, then set your target temp
using the UP/DOWN arrows. Remember, the inverter must be on to run the A/C.
✦ The heating system takes a few minutes to reach operating temperature.
✦ For optimal heating, open the heater vents on the GrooveLounge base and
under the water control panel. Cool the cabin without A/C
Create Cross Ventilation when using the exhaust fan by opening a window.
This makes the ceiling exhaust fan more effective.
Water + Plumbing Systems
Using the fresh water system
Fill fresh water tank by connecting water supply to the exterior Freshwater
Connection port. On the Water Control Panel, point the Siphon Port handle up
and the External Port handle to the left. Always use a 45psi pressure
regulator and water filter (not supplied with the RV). Sanitize the fresh
water system before use and as needed. See User Guide for additional details
on sanitizing.Use fresh
water from the tank by pointing the Siphon Port handle up and the External
Port handle pointed up. Turn on the Water Pump to use water from the fresh
water
tank. Keep the water pump off when not using the water. To use city
water directly from the fixtures, point the Siphon Port handle up and the
External Port handle to the right when a water supply is connected to the
exterior Freshwater Connection port. Always use a 45psi pressure regulator and
water filter.
To make hot water press the Hot Water button on the MODE COM home screen. It
takes severalminutes for the system to warm up.
Halo Shower™
-
Open the shower cabinet front panel.
-
Locate and release the lower panel screw latches to open the lower panel.
-
Release the shower curtain holding straps.
-
Holding the shower hose out of the way, pull the shower curtain frame outward.
-
Place the shower head and hose inside the curtain and hang them on the shower head holder.
-
Ensure the curtain is inside the shower pan. The shower curtain is made from an antimicrobial fabric, but should not be stored wet.
Water + Plumbing Systems, Halo Shower™
Using the Sink Drain Pump
Press the Sink Drain Pump button to empty the sink into the gray water tank.
Stop pressing the sink drain pump when the noise changes. Running the pump
without water in the drain line will damage the pump.
Empty the
gray water tank
Unscrew the cap, connect the waste water hose. Place the other end into RV
dump station or connect to the campground sewer system. Open waste valve to
empty. Keep the
gray tank waste valve closed until the tank needs to be emptied (around 80%
full). See MODE COM for water levels. Pull handle to empty tank.
Use the GrooveLoungeTM
Always use seat belts while the vehicle is moving.
To use child restraint systems, the provided locking clip must be used. Pull
handles to tilt panels and transform the seat into a lounge or bed. Be careful
not to let the seat cushion impact the driver’s seat. When the vehicle is in
motion, only use the GrooveLounge in its fully upright position.
Dreamweaver ™ bed and table set up Set up the bed
First, lay down the driver’s side panel and secure its folding legs into the
leg catches in the floor.
Next, lower the passenger side.
Set up the work surface
After setting up the driver’s side bed panel and support legs, remove the
cushion to use the easy clean work surface. Never leave bed panels unsupported
by the legs. This will damage the bed system.
Open the awning
→ Set the parking brake. If the vehicle engine is running, make sure the
parking brake is on.
→ Press the Awning Arm button on the galley.
→ Open the awning using controls on the galley.
→ Press and release out or in to fully extend or retract. Press once to stop.
COLD WEATHER PREPARATION TIPS Cold Weather Preparation Tips
If the plumbing system is not winterized and the onboard
water freezes, damage may occur.
✦ Help protect the plumbing by running the cabin heat set to at least 60
degrees.
✦ When driving, keep the graywater tank warm by activating Hot Water.
Drain the graywater tank before temps go below freezing.
ee the User Guide for winterizing instructions when the van is not in use.
Keep the M-Power system warm if you plan on using the MODE.
✦ When the van is stored, the M-Power system can be left off.
✦ Turn the M-Power system on to warm it up automatically using its heating
elements. The colder the system, the longer it takes to warm up.
✦ When using the van, maintain cabin temperatures above 60 degrees.
✦ The M-Power pack will power the van even in cold temperatures, but if the
packs get too cold they will not take a charge until they are warmed back up.
In extreme cold, the pack will not turn on.
If the M-Power system is too cold to charge and below 10% State of Charge, do
not attempt to warm the pack using battery power. See the User Guide for
additional cold weather instructions.
