Unpacking the Appliance

  1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
  2. Remove all packaging material, such as foils, filling material, cable ties, and cardboard packaging.
  3. Check the scope of delivery for completeness.
  4. If the contents of the packaging are incomplete or if the damage can be detected, do not operate the appliance. Return it to the dealer immediately.

Warnings for the Use of the Appliance

Read the instructions!

  • Only use with “PC-HSM / R 3051” power supply unit! For the purpose of recharging the battery, only use the detachable supply unit provided with this appliance.
  • Do not use a power supply with a damaged plug! If the pins of the plug part are damaged, the plug-in power supply shall be scrapped.

WARNING of Electric Shock:

  • Keep the power supply unit dry.
  • Do not use this appliance in close proximity to water if the power supply unit is connected (e. g. bathtubs, shower basins, or other vessels containing water)!
  • Do not charge the appliance near bathtubs, shower trays, or other vessels containing water.
  • If the appliance does fall into the water, first unplug the power supply unit from the wall socket.
  • Charge the appliance in a cool, dry place.
  • Do not replace any parts. Do not make any modifications.

WARNING: Risk of Injury!

  • Do not press the shaving head of the shaver too hard on the skin.
  • Do not use the appliance if the shaving head is damaged.
  • Never remove an attachment during operation!

CAUTION:

  • Choose the place for charging so that the appliance is not exposed to direct sunlight or other sources of heat.
  • Do not charge the rechargeable battery unattended.
  • Always unplug the power supply unit from the wall socket after charging.

Notes for Use

  • • Only trim main or beard hair with the appliance.
    • Only cut dry hair with the appliance.
    • Start by using the biggest comb attachment and cut your hair/beard step by step to the desired length.

Charging the Battery

  1. Turn the appliance off. OFF can be seen on the switch (1).
  2. Connect the power supply plug with one of the following jacks:
    • The socket is directly at the bottom end of the appliance.
    • Alternatively, place the appliance in the charging station. The socket is at the rear.
  3. Plug the power supply unit into a wall outlet.
  4. Charge the appliance before first use for 9 hours.
    • The indicator light remains red during the charging process.
    • The charge indicator does not indicate the state of charge of the rechargeable battery.
    • If the rechargeable battery is empty, the appliance can be operated via mains power. In order to do so, connect the power supply unit directly to the appliance. The indicator lamp lights up orange during mains operation.
  5. After initial use, do not charge the battery for longer than 9 hours at one time.
    • After 9 hours always disconnect from mains power supply.

You will extend the life of the rechargeable battery if you observe the following:

  • Wait until the rechargeable battery is almost empty before charging.
  • Do not leave the appliance connected to the charger for more than 14 hours.
  • Only charge the appliance at an ambient temperature between 0 °C and + 40 °C.

Using the Appliance

Switching On and Off
Slide the switch (1) to turn the appliance on or off.

Adjust Cutting Length

  1. Turn off the appliance. OFF can be seen on the switch.
  2. Attach the shaving head to the appliance as described under “Cleaning”.
  3. Select a comb attachment. Each comb is marked with its cutting length.
  4. Attach the desired comb: Slide the blades of the shaving head into the jags of the comb. Firmly push the comb onto the clipper head until it locks into place.
  5. In order to remove the comb attachment, push the locking catch out of its lock.

Cut Hair and Beard

  1. Select the cutting length.
  2. Switch the appliance on. ON can be seen on the switch (1) and the indicator lamp lights up green.

Outlining and Shaving the Neck
The shaving head allows precise outlining of the shape of the beard, even in difficult-to-reach places as well as a clean shaving of the hairline at the neck.

  1. Turn the appliance off with the switch (1).
  2. Remove the cutting length comb (7) and turn the hair clipper on again.

End of Operation
Switch off the appliance. OFF can be seen on the switch (1).

Cleaning

WARNING:

  • Switch off the appliance before cleaning. Unplug the power supply unit from the socket.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, the charging station, or the power supply unit in the water!

CAUTION:

  • Also do not clean the appliance under running water! The electronics could be damaged.
  • Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive objects.
  • Do not use any sharp or abrasive cleaning agents.
  • Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimum results and a long lifetime.
  • Use the cleaning brush to remove the remaining hair after use. Remove the attachment comb (7).
  • Clean the casing with a slightly damp cloth, if necessary.
  • Always clean the power supply unit with a dry cloth.

Attach/Remove Shaving Head
The shaving head is locked to the housing.

  1. Push back the shaving head with your thumb in order to release the catch.
  2. Replace the shaving head after cleaning by first setting the catch into the housing. Then press the cutting area against the housing until it locks into place.

Important Care Advice
To maintain the cutting performance of the shaving head for a long time, regularly apply 1 – 2 drops of acid-free / resin-free oil, such as shaving head oil, sewing machine oil or precision mechanics oil to the shaving head. This lubrication keeps the shaving head running smoothly and prevents the blades from becoming blunt.

Storage

  • Clean the appliance as described and allow it to dry completely.
  • Always store the appliance out of the reach of children in a well-ventilated and dry place.
  • The storage temperature should be between 10 °C and 20 °C.
  • We recommend storing the appliance in its original packaging if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of time.
  • Rechargeable battery lifespan: Even when switched off, the rechargeable battery is constantly discharging. If you do not use the appliance for a longer period of time, charge the rechargeable battery at least every 4 to 6 weeks.

Disposal

Removing the Rechargeable Batteries

  • This appliance is equipped with rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. Remove the battery before disposing of the appliance.
  • As a consumer, you are legally bound to return exhausted batteries /rechargeable batteries.

WARNING:
Disconnect from the mains power supply before removing the batteries!

  1. Remove the shaving head.
  2. Use a small crosshead screwdriver to remove the screws inside the appliance.
  3. Pry both halves of the housing apart using a screwdriver, thereby destroying the appliance.
  4. Remove the rechargeable batteries.
  5. Cut the wires to the rechargeable batteries with a pair of scissors.

Return the batteries to a collection point for waste batteries or hazardous waste. Ask your municipality for further information.

Meaning of the “Dustbin” Symbol

Protect our environment: do not dispose of electrical equipment in domestic waste. Please return any electrical equipment that you will no longer use to the collection points provided for their disposal.  This helps avoid the potential effects of incorrect disposal on the environment and human health. This will contribute to the recycling and other forms of re-utilisation of electrical and electronic equipment. Information concerning where the equipment can be disposed of can be obtained from your local authority. Your dealer and contractual partner are also obliged to take back the old appliance free of charge.
