General questions about maintenance:

How do I clean the filters and how often?

For optimal performance, it is recommended to clean filters regularly. Between washings, your filter can be tapped clean to remove any excess dust and other particles into the trash.
Pre-Motor Foam and Felt Filter: Under normal usage, rinse and let air dry completely (for 24 hours) every 3 months. Remove the dust cup and pull the donut-shaped filter assembly out from the top of the motor housing. Slide the foam filter off the assembly and remove the felt filter from just below the assembly. The felt filter comes with a small ribbon pull tab to make it easier to remove. Rinse the filters thoroughly in lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Squeeze out excess water and let air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing. Do not place filters in the dishwasher or washing machine. To replace back in the vacuum once dry, put the felt filter in first, then add the foam filter.
Post-Motor HEPA filter: Under normal usage, rinse and air-dry once every 12 months or as needed. Remove the filter cover from the front of the vacuum by pulling open to one side. Remove the HEPA filter cartridge and rinse under lukewarm water with the dirty side face down until the water runs clear. Allow the filter to air dry completely for 24 hours. Once the HEPA filter is dry, replace it back into the vacuum, and then replace the cover by lining up the tabs on one side and swinging the door securely closed until it clicks into place.

How do I empty the dust cup and how often?

Pinch the dust cup release latches on the rear top of the dust cup handle and lift the dust cup up and away from the vacuum body.
Hold the dust cup over the trash and press the bottom door release button on the front of the unit. Tap gently to empty contents. Press the door shut again until it clicks. If needed, turn the dust cup upside down over the trash and press the top door release button. Tap gently to remove contents or wipe clean with a soft cloth.
For optimal performance, empty the dust cup when the dirt reaches the MAX FILL line.

How do I maintain the brushroll?

Remove floor nozzle from the vacuum.
Using a coin, turn the locking screws to the unlock position and pull up to expose the airway. Remove any obstructions, close and relock.

Remove any string, carpet fibers or hair that may be wrapped around the brushroll.
