Getting to Know Your New Waffle Maker
- Cooking surface
- Handle
- Indicator lights (green and red)
Operating the Waffle Maker
**** Do not plug in the appliance until it is time to heat the unit and start the cooking process. Do not leave it plugged in if it is not in use!
-
Before plugging in your waffle maker and using it for the first time, open the unit by lifting upward on the handle. The top section will rest in a vertical position.
-
Clean the cooking surface thoroughly by wiping with a sponge or cloth dampened with hot water. Dry the surface with a cloth or paper towel.
-
You may lightly brush or spray the cooking surface with cooking oil or non-stick spray. The first waffle may appear slightly darker due to the oil.
-
Plug the cord into an electrical outlet.
-
The red power indicator light will turn on. The waffle maker will need to preheat for 5 minutes before baking. Use this time to make the batter. When the unit has reached the proper temperature and is ready, the green indicator light will turn on.
CAUTION: THE OUTSIDE OF THE MACHINE GETS HOT DURING COOKING AND PREHEATING. -
Raise the lid and pour 1/2 cup of the waffle batter, from a cup or pitcher, into the center of the cooking surface. Make sure the green indicator light is now on and close the lid.
Note: The hinge is designed to be somewhat loose. This allows the waffles to rise and for steam to escape. -
Let the waffles cook. It will normally take about 5 minutes.
-
Remove the waffles with a heat-proof plastic spatula or tongs. Do not use sharp objects or utensils.
**** When removing cooked waffles from the machine, BE CAREFUL AS THEY WILL BE HOT. -
When finished using the appliance, be sure to unplug it!
If additional waffles are to be cooked immediately after, keep the waffle maker closed to retain heat. Always wait until the green “ready” light turns on before baking more waffles.
Additional Operating Instructions and Tips
- Remove the waffles with a heat-proof plastic spatula or tongs. Do not use sharp objects or utensils.
- Always make fresh batter for the waffles. Try to avoid making to much batter and having to store it. Batter that wasn’t prepared fresh will affect the quality of the waffle.
- Do not place anything but waffle batter ingredients in the appliance when cooking.
- Keep the lid closed while cooking. Only open the lid when cooking is finished.
- Waffles can be reheated in the microwave. Place waffles on a paper towel and microwave for a few seconds only. The cooking time or power settings on the microwave will vary, depending on whether waffles have been at room temperature or if they are cold.
- The waffle maker has a non-stick surface for even baking and easy clean–up. A small amount of oil can be added to the unit for additional flavor if desired.
