Operating Instructions
This appliance is intended for household use only.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a
safety feature, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does
not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety
feature.
TOURMALINE CERAMIC COATING
The Tourmaline Ceramic coating helps protect hair from over-styling with even
heat distribution that penetrates hair quickly and styles from the inside out
and helps to seal the hair cuticle and boost shine.
AUTO SHUT-OFF
This styling iron has an automatic Shut-Off feature. Should you forget to turn
off the styling iron, it will automatically shut off after an hour.
HELPFUL STYLING HINTS
- The Bed Head® Wave AffairTM Waver uses a unique three-barrel design with an extra-wide middle barrel to create the deepest, smoothest waves.
- Hair should be clean and dried completely before using any styling tool.
- Plug your styling iron into an electrical outlet and press the symbol to turn “On”, the unit will automatically turn “On”.

I MPORTANT: When using the waver for the first time, select the LOWEST heat setting and test in one small section of hair for 5 to 8 seconds. If you want to use a higher setting, be sure to GRADUALLY increase the temperature. Never style hair for the first time on a high setting as this may damage your hair. Use only as much heat as you need for effective curling. Over time, using more heat than is necessary can result in hair damage.
- DO NOT touch heating barrels while the waver is plugged in or operating. They are extremely hot.
- After styling is complete, press the symbol to turn “Off”, the unit will automatically turn “Off” then unplug the styling iron.
- Allow the hair to cool before combing, brushing, or touching.
NOTE: The Heat-protective Glove is intended to protect the hand from
incidental contact with the barrel, but is not intended to protect from
prolonged exposure.
IMPORTANT: The high-performance heater in this unit contains an oil-based
protective coating that will burn off during the first few minutes of initial
use and may emit smoke and/or an odor. You may also hear a humming noise
during use. This is normal and is not a cause for concern.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION
NEVER wrap the power cord around the appliance. Any pulling, twisting, severe
folding or bending can damage the cord, especially at the point of entry into
the unit, which may rupture the cord and can cause an electrical short or
other failure. Regularly inspect the cord. DO NOT use an appliance with a
twisted, bent or otherwise damaged cord, or if the appliance receives power
irregularly. If cord is damaged, or for irregular power issues, refer to
instructions in the WARNING section further below.
STORAGE
Appliance should be disconnected and allowed to cool before storage. Do not
apply stress or tension to the cord’s point of entry into the unit. During
storage, cord should remain loose with no tight bends or folds, and appliance
should be placed in a secure, dry location out of reach of children. For
further details, refer to the STORAGE section of the
Operating Instructions.
When using electrical appliances, especially when children are present, basic
safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

DO NOT operate with a voltage converter.

This is a dual-voltage appliance; before plugging it in, read the information about dual voltage contained in the “Operating Instructions” section of this manual.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS Maintenance
Your appliance is virtually maintenance-free. No lubrication is needed. Keep
heated surfaces clean and free of dust, dirt, and hair spray. If cleaning
becomes necessary, unplug the appliance from the power source and wipe the
exterior with a damp cloth. If the cord becomes twisted, untwist prior to use.
WARNING : If any malfunction occurs, do not attempt to repair it. This
appliance has no user-serviceable parts.
STORAGE
Unplug the appliance when not in use.
WA R N I N G BURN HAZARD
Allow appliance to cool and store out of reach of children in a safe, dry
location. Never wrap the cord around the appliance since this will cause the
cord to wear prematurely and break. Handle cord carefully for longer life and
avoid jerking, bending sharply, twisting, or straining cord, especially at
plug connections.
Limited 36-Month Warranty
This appliance is warranted against defects in material or workmanship for 36 months from the date of purchase. Any problems arising from misuse, attempts at repair, dropping or extreme wear are not covered by this warranty. The store where the item was purchased is authorized to make an exchange only if the return is made within 30 days from purchase date. For exchanges after 30 days, send the appliance postage paid along with proof of purchase, a note explaining reason for return, and $6.00 US to cover handling, insurance, and return postage costs to: Helen of Troy L.P., Consumer Service Department, 1 Helen of Troy Plaza, El Paso, Texas 79912 USA.
