OPERATION
Raise a Load Squarely.
Attach the leveller to the load via the recommended lifting points.
If this is an engine, ensuring that all necessary components are disconnected,
i.e. exhaust, gearbox, cables, electrical connections etc.
Very slowly take the weight of the engine.
As the load begins to lift it may rise unevenly at one end only.
Turn the crank handle of the Leveller so that the load moves AWAY from that
end. Continue to raise the load a little at a time whilst moving the load away
from the raised end until the load rises squarely.
If there is a degree of twist, this may be taken up by adjusting the chain and
shackle arrangement to lengthen or shorten the hooks as appropriate.
ALWAYS ensure that the FULL thickness of the bolt is in contact with the
threaded end of the shackle.
If this method is insufficient to compensate for the degree of twist, you
should adjust the chain length on one or more of the lifting points.
Raising a Load at an Angle
In some cases, it may be necessary to raise the load at an angle.
Adjust the chains and shackles appropriately, and select the correct hole in
the sliding bar.
Gently raise the load, turning the crank handle as required to achieve the
required degree of tilt.
MAINTENANCE
Always visually inspect before each use to ensure no cracks are present and no
damage is evident, and that the tool is in good general condition.
If it is damaged or if in doubt as to its serviceability, consult SIP After
Sales – 01509 500400 or your local SIP distributor.
Remove from service immediately.
Regularly:-
- Check the sliding bar for wear, damage and distortion.
- Lubricate lightly the sliding bar and adjusting lead screw.
- Inspect the chains for damage, wear, elongation etc.
- If any irregularities are present change them.
