Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble,
operate or install the product.
WARNING: When using outdoor use portable lighting products, basic safety
precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric
shock, and personal injury including the following:
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
a) Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on
the circuits or outlet to be used for the outdoor use flexible lighting
product. Receptacles are available that have built-in GFCI protection for this
measure of safety.
b) Only use outdoor extension cords such as type SEW, SEOW, SEOOW, SOW, SOOW,
STW, STOW, STOOW, SJEW, SJEOW, SJEOOW, SJW, SJOW, SJOOW, SJTW, SJTOW, or
SJTOOW. This designation is marked on the wire of the extension cord.
- Read and follow all instructions that are on the product or provided with the product.
- This product operates at 5V.
- 3.6W per string, 0.3W per bulb.
- This seasonal use product is not intended for permanent installation or use.
- Do not mount or place near gas or electric heaters, fireplaces, candles, or other similar sources of heat.
- Do not mount the string light in or near running or standing water or near drains of any kind.
- Do not mount directly over pools, fountains, or other bodies of water. Ensure string light is at least 5 feet away from the edge of any pools, fountains, or other bodies of water.
- Do not secure the wiring of the product with staples or nails, or place on sharp hooks or nails.
- Do not let lamps rest on the supply cord or on any wire.
- The supply cord and string light must not be subject to push, pull, or other torsion forces.
- Unplug the product when leaving the vicinity of the product or when left unattended.
- This is an electric product and not a toy! To avoid risk of fire, burns, personal injury, and electric shock, it should not be placed where small children can reach.
- Do not use this product for other than its intended use.
- Do not hang ornaments or other objects from cord, wire, or light string.
- Do not close doors or windows on the product or extension cords as this may damage the wire insulation.
- Do not cover the product with cloth, paper, or any material not part of the product when in use.
- This product is equipped with push-in type lamps. Do not twist lamps

uncontrolled environment. In order to avoid the possibility of exceeding the

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING:
- Disconnect power at the source prior to beginning installation or servicing product.
- Be careful not to damage or cut the wire insulation (covering) during fixture installation. Do not permit power cord or wires to contact any surface having a sharp edge. To do so may damage or cut the wire insulation, which could cause serious injury or death from electric shock.
- String light sockets must be suspended so that lamps are facing downwards. DO NOT mount the light string with sockets facing upward. Lamps should hang freely with at least 3 inches of space from nearest object.

Carefully remove all the parts from the packaging and check to ensure there are no cuts or nicks in the string light (A) nor damage to the pre-attached lamps. Ensure all bulb lenses and the connection between the string light and plug-in power supply (B) are securely fastened.

Determine the desired location of the string light (A). Ensure the mounting location and power outlet is within reach of the power cord and plug.

Securely attach string light (A) to a support structure using the eyelet holes at the top of each suspended socket and appropriate supporting hardware(eyebolts, brackets, etc. not included).

Plug the 5V Plug In Power Supply with In-Line Controller (B) into an appropriate power outlet.
EXTENDING THE SERIES

Ensure that all string lights (A) are unplugged before adding additional string light (A) segments to the series..

Remove the plug from the additional string light (A) to be added in sequence by unscrewing the screw-on connection.

Connect two string lights together by pushing the male and female end connections together, ensuring the 2 pins align with the 2 holes in the receiving end, then tightening the screw-on connection cover. Ensure the last string in the series has its end cap attached. Do not connect more than 4 strings together
REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION
Use handheld remote control (C) for on/off control, dimming, and color
temperature control. Remove plastic tab from battery door before use. See
table below for button function.
To replace remote control’s battery (E), follow directions on the back of
remote control (C) to slide battery drawer out. Replace battery (+ side up)
and slide battery drawers back in place
For All Lighting Modes/Effects, Select Color Mode First then Lighting Mode/Effect
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
- When the product is placed on a live tree, the tree should be well maintained and fresh. Do not place on live trees in which the needles are brown and break off easily. Keep the tree holder filled with water.
- If the product is placed on a tree, the tree should be well secured and stable.
- Before using or reusing, inspect product carefully. Discard any products that have cut, damaged, or frayed wire insulation or cords, cracks in the lamp-holders or enclosures, loose connections, or exposed copper wire.
- When storing the product, carefully remove the product from wherever it is placed, including trees, branches, or bushes in order to avoid any undue strain or stress on the product conductors, connections, and wires.
- When not in use, store neatly in a cool, dry location protected from sunlight.
USER SERVICING
a) Grasp direct plug-in power supply and remove from the receptacle or other
outlet device. Do not unplug by pulling on cord.
b) CAUTION: — Do not operate with lamps missing from sockets. Missing
lamps should be replaced promptly.
c) To replace a failed lamp, remove the clear bulb cover and pull the filament
straight out. Identify the number printed on the bottom of the filament, and
identify a matching replacement filament (included). Replace the new filament
into the socket by carefully aligning the pins into the corelated holes. Screw
the bulb cover clockwise back into the socket, ensuring a tight seal.
d) CAUTION: – To reduce the risk of overheating, replace burned-out lamps
promptly.
e) Unscrew lamp counter-clockwise.
TROUBLESHOOTING
-
The light does not come on at all:
a) Make sure the wall switch and circuit breaker are on.
b) Ensure the string light is securely fastened to the power plug. -
Color Pattern/Functions are not correct.
a) Ensure filaments are installed in correct order as shown previously.
If unable to fix any of the above issues, please consult a certified electrician.
90-DAY LIMITED WARRANTY : This Better Home & Garden™ brand string light carries a 90-Day Limited Warranty to the original purchaser. If, during normal use, this Better Home & Garden™ string light fails due to a defect in material and workmanship within ninety (90) days from the date of purchase, simply bring this string light with your original sales receipt back to your nearest Wal-Mart™ retail store. At its discretion, Better Home & Garden™ agrees to have the string light replaced with the same or similar Better Home & Garden™ product free of charge, within the stated warranty period, when returned by the original purchaser with original sales receipt. Notwithstanding the foregoing, this limited warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by misuse or abuse including but not limited to improper installation, accident, unauthorized repair, maintenance, or modifications of the merchandise. This warranty: (1) excludes expendable parts including but not limited to light bulbs, batteries; (2) carries a 90-day finish warranty protecting finish against tarnishing, flaking, and discoloration; (3) shall be void if this rope light is not installed in the U.S.A; (4) does not cover products installed within three miles of saltwater coastline or any area prone to salt spray; and (5) does not cover any losses, labor, injuries to persons/property or costs. This warranty does give you specific legal rights and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state. Be careful, it is recommended that installation be done by a qualified professional; the purchaser has sole responsibility for proper installation in compliance with all state and local code requirements. Seller’s employees are not qualified to advise you on the use of this Merchandise. Any oral representation(s) made will not be binding on seller or its employees. The rights under this limited warranty are to the original purchaser of the Merchandise and may not be transferred to any subsequent owner. This limited warranty is in lieu of all warranties, expressed or implied including warranties or merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Seller shall not be liable for any special, incidental, or consequential damages. The sole exclusive remedy against the seller will be for the replacement of any defects as provided herein, as long as the seller is willing or able to replace this product or is willing to refund the purchase price as provided above.
