How to Use
Test procedure
Please read this section completely before starting the test.
- Rinse the test vials with the water to be tested.
- Fill the vials to the 20 ml mark with the water to be tested. Vial A is required for comparative purposes; vial B is used for the measurement.
- Place vial A on the pink circle of the cooler chart. Place vial B on the white circle of the oiler chart.
- Hold the bottle containing test reagent 1 upside down over vial B and add 5 drops.
- Hold the bottle with test reagent 2 upside down over vial B and add it, drop by drop. Count the number of drops required for the cooler in vial B to turn pink. Theolen must remain pink for 30 seconds and correspond to the cooler in vial A. The easiest way to determine the cooler change is to look down into the vials, comparing the cooler in vial B with the cooler in control vial A.
Important: Swirl vial B each time you add a drop of reagent 2.The number of drops of test reagent 2 required to make the water cooler is multiplied by two to obtain the CO2 concentration, e.g. 5 drops (5 x 2) = 10 mg/l CO2 . After each test, rinse the vials thoroughly with tap water.
Values and assessment
The optimum carbon dioxide value is: 5 – 15 mg/l.
What should I do if…
…the carbon dioxide content is too high? – Increase the aeration. Install
an air pump with a suitable air stone.
…the carbon dioxide content is too low? – Use Tetra CO2 Optimate or Tetra
CO2 Plus to increase the value. In ponds, you should carry out a partial water
change.
Before adding new new tap water, treat it with Tetra Pond Aqua Safe to make it safe for fi sh. To maintain optimum water quality we recommend that you check water values weekly. All Tetra Test products are easy to use and very accurate. They use professional methods to determine chemical water values. Available for all key water values.
