Warranty Disclaimer
If your instrument is serviced and/or calibrated by someone other than Esco
Medical Ltd. and their representatives, please be advised that the original
warranty covering your
product becomes void when the tamper-resistant Quality Seal is removed or
broken without proper factory authorization. In all cases, breaking the
tamper-resistant Quality Seal should be avoided at all costs, as this seal is
key to your original instrument warranty. In an event where the seal must be
broken to gain internal access to the instrument, you must first contact Esco

About the product
Esco Medical MIRI® AVT is an anti-vibration table intended to be used with
high magnification microscopes. It isolates the microscope from vibrations
generated in the room where the table is placed and from vibrations generated
above or below any part of the tabletop that is not part of the AVT platform.
The platform consists of a sturdy frame and a tabletop in stainless steel and
glass. The AVT platform is located in the middle of the tabletop and it is
floating on the AVT mechanism.
The anti-vibration mechanism works as a passive damping device and only
partially damps the vibration that is generated on the AVT platform itself.
The microscope must be placed on the anti-vibration float.
In all buildings, floors vibrate at low frequencies, which may affect the
performance of a high-magnification microscope. The effects of vibration can
be significantly reduced by installing a system that isolates the microscope
area. The degree of improvement varies between instruments and locations,
depending on the amplitude and frequency of floor vibrations.
This product does not carry a CE mark. Only those product categories that are
subject to specific CE marking directives are required (and allowed) to carry
CE marking. There are no such categories or directives that would include a
non-electrical anti-vibration table as MIRI ® AVT.
The product is manufactured under ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Personal Protective Equipment (89/686/EEC) and Machine Directive (2006/42/EC)
is not applicable for MIRI ® AVT.

Important safety instructions and warnings
6.1 Before installation
- Do not use the product if the package is damaged. Contact Esco Medical or the local representative.
- Read the User manual completely before use.
- Always keep these instructions easily accessible near the device.
6.2 During installation
- Place this unit on a flat, hard and stable surface.
- Never place the unit on a carpet or similar surfaces.
- This unit is intended for the indoor purpose only.
- Lift the device carefully. All MIRI® AVT parts are heavy and may require additional people to move them around.
- Float elements have to go into the hole on a tabletop – be careful not to squeeze fingers or drop the element through the hole.
6.3 Post-installation
- Refer all servicing procedures to qualified service personnel.
6.4 Bring the following to the installation site
- 1 level tool.
- Gloves for installation.
Assembling Esco Medical MIRI® AVT
Follow the guidelines in the safety instructions and warnings section.
Clean and disinfect the device before use. It is not delivered sterile or in a
clinically acceptable clean state. Look through this manual’s 8 th “Cleaning
instructions” section for the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines!
**** Do not touch the springs or contact points with bare hands! Skin grease
will compromise the performance of vital friction points.
Place the anti-vibration table in an appropriate place on the floor.
Level the table platform horizontally by adjusting the table legs with a
spanner key. To ensure a good result, place the level on a stable platform.
Put on gloves.
The 3 springs are already installed in the MIRI® AVT.
The unit comes with already safety guard installed. It is screwed with 3
screws on the left, right and the bottom side. 3 screws on the right side are
marked red in the image below.
The floated part labeled 1 should be placed on the springs and equal distance
left from the hole on all sides to have space for centering the floating
platform. The holding screws should be facing up.
It
is essential that there would be no contact between the floating platform and
the table. Then, place float element 2 on the top of float element 1.
The rubber stops should be facing up. Leave equal distance from the hole on
all sides of the table platform.
Then place the top of the floating element (stainless steel) on the rubber
parts again, leaving an equal distance from the hole on all sides of the table
platform.
In the picture above, the floated element is too high. The adjustment can only
be made after the microscope has been placed on the float, as the weight will
push it down.
It is the fully laden float that should be level. Thus, the adjustment is
dependent on the microscope weight.
The floated element should be at the same level as the tabletop after placing
the microscope.
The float height is adjusted by loosening 4 securing hexagonal head bolts and
turning the handle.
The safety guard plate does not need to be removed to reach these
hexagonal head bolts.
After adjustment, tighten the four securing bolts again. If this is done
improperly, the table will go out of adjustment while in use.
The spanner key for leg adjustment can be placed under the MIRI ® AVT in the
right corner.
Any additional equipment may now be installed.
Ensure all cables connected to the microscope hang freely between the
attachment point on the microscope and the other side. It can be achieved by
stripping the cable to the points and ensuring that the cable forms an arch
between them. Vibration may be transferred via the cable if the cable is tight
or touches an area between the anchor points.
After successful installation and device testing, complete user training and
instructions.
Cleaning instructions
Always validate cleaning procedures locally; consult either your manufacturer
or the distributor for more guidance.
Switch off the devices on the table and remove the main leads. The combination
of standard cleaning procedures and disinfection procedures is recommended for
eventrelated concerns such as media spills, visual accumulation of soil and/or
other evidence of contamination. It is also recommended to clean and disinfect
the MIRI ® AVT immediately after any media spills.
Periodic cleaning of the device
Wearing gloves and good handling techniques are essential to successful
cleaning.
- It is recommended to clean the unit with aqueous surface disinfectant or disinfection wipes that have active alcohol or benzyl-alkyldimethyl chloride ingredients. Clean all the device’s external surfaces by rubbing with lint-free cloth wipes.
- Use purified or sterile water to wipe the surface of the device to remove any residue.
- Inspect the device – if it is visually clean, consider it ready for use.
If the device is not visually clean, repeat the process from step 1.
Maintenance
Esco Medical MIRI ® AVT is designed to be easy to use and requires almost no
maintenance at all.
Over time, adjustments may become necessary.
If needed, the rubber stops and the metal strips can be changed.
**** Warranty is considered to be void if service and maintenance procedures are done not by trained and authorized personnel.
User troubleshooting
Table 10.1 Vibrations
Vibrations .1 | Cause | Action |
---|---|---|
Vibrations from the floating part | The float touches the table |
platform, and vibrations are
transferred directly to the
microscope.| The floater should be in the center position of the hole. Air
should be all around the floater.
Vibrations coming from
hexagonal head bolts| Loose tightening bolts.| Tighten four tightening bolts.
Vibrations coming from the spring system (the spring system is not painted and
must be entirely grease-free for function; the surface is rough
intentionally).| Grease or oil on the surface of contact points.| Clean the
area with a disinfection solution.
Vibrations coming from cables (tight cable of a microscope or any other
equipment placed on the tabletop will result in vibrations being transmitted
directly to the microscope).| Cables muted incorrectly.| Tie cables so that
they would not touch the table and would hang loosely between the attachment
points.
Vibrations coming from the microscope| The microscope is placed unevenly on
the floater.| The weight of the microscope has to be distributed evenly on the
floater. Since the back part of a microscope is the heaviest, it should be
moved more to the front of the table platform.
