Introduction
With the XE300 Wireless Speaker, you can project loud sounds wherever you are. Thanks to its IP67 water, dust, and shockproof construction, this speaker is designed to last in any environment. This speaker guarantees that everyone at the party hears uncompromised sound quality throughout the room thanks to its amazing line from the diffuser and all-day battery life. With a single charge, you may use the device for up to 24 hours, and USB-C quick charging allows you to play back for up to 70 minutes after just 10 minutes of charging. To prolong battery life and improve battery health, the Battery Care feature cuts off the charge immediately before the battery reaches 100%. When exposed to the weather, the XE300 continues to function thanks to IP67 water and dust protection. This speaker will withstand the unavoidable knocks and drops because it is shockproof. The newly created X-Balanced Speaker Unit in the XE300 has a non-circular diaphragm instead of the circular one found in a standard speaker unit, realizing higher sound pressure for a high-quality sound. Sony’s innovative Line-Shape Diffuser provides a line source and disperses the sound energy uniformly, across a wide sound front, to better fill your room with audio. It was inspired by the audio systems used at professional performances.

Notes on charging
The life span of the built-in lithium-ion battery
- Even if you do not intend to use the speaker for a long time, charge the built-in battery sufficiently once every 6 months to maintain its performance.
- If the speaker is not used for a long time, it may take longer to charge the built-in battery.
- The rechargeable built-in battery has a life span. As time passes and the number of times that the built-in battery is used increases, the capacity of the rechargeable built-in battery slowly decreases. When the amount of time that the built-in battery can be used seems significantly shorter, despite having been fully charged, contact your nearest Sony dealer.
- When the amount of time that the built-in battery can be used seems significantly shorter, it could mean that the rechargeable built-in battery has expired.
- The life span of the rechargeable built-in battery differs depending on the usage, environment, and storage method.
Caution
When the speaker detects a problem for the following causes during battery
charging, the (power) indicator starts double flashing in orange.
- Ambient temperature exceeds the range of 5 °C – 35 °C (41 °F – 95 °F).
- When charging to the built-in battery continues for a long time.
When an abnormality of the built-in battery has been detected, stop charging immediately, wait for a while, and then charge the built-in battery again. If the problem persists, contact your nearest Sony dealer.
Note
- Charging time varies depending on built-in battery usage conditions.
- Charge the speaker in an ambient temperature between 5 °C and 35 °C (41 °F and 95 °F). Be aware that the room temperature may fall to 5 °C (41 °F) or lower depending on the season, for example, especially in wintertime.
- The speaker becomes warm during charging. This is not a malfunction.
- Avoid exposure to rapid temperature change, direct sunlight, mist, sand, dust, or mechanical shock. Also, never leave the speaker in a car parked in the sun.
- As long as the speaker is connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor (commercially available), the speaker’s built-in battery is capable of charging itself even while the speaker is turned on. However, it may take a long time before charging completes depending on the usage of the speaker. It is recommended that you turn off the speaker before battery charging.
- You can charge the speaker’s built-in battery by connecting the speaker to a computer that comes equipped with a USB charging port as well. However, not all the computers are tested and found compatible with this procedure and the procedure is not applicable to home-built computers.
- In an extremely cold or hot environment, charging stops for safety. If charging takes a long time, it also makes the charging of the speaker stop. To resolve these issues, disconnect the USB cable from the speaker and connect it again within an operating temperature between 5 °C and 35 °C (41 °F and 95 °F).
- At high temperatures, the charging may stop or the volume may reduce to protect the battery.
- Charging from a USB hub is only guaranteed when you use a self-powered USB hub that carries an authorized logo.
- While the speaker is connected to a computer that is not connected to an AC outlet, the speaker consumes the battery power of the computer. Do not leave the computer with the speaker connected for a long period of time to prevent the computer’s battery from running out of power.

How many watts?
Over the years we have seen posting such numbers results in a spec contest.
Specs, and yes even watts can be measured in different ways. For example
receivers, take a look at the wattage, then see a number of speakers driven,
and distortion rates. All of which vary greatly. Also, watts do not tell you
how efficient the drivers are, or any of the components that help the speaker
sound great. Thus telling an incomplete story.
Instead, we strive to make the best sounding speaker, that is rugged, water &
dustproof, and has long battery life. All of the things our customers have
told us really matter to them.
Can you remotely power on and off the speaker from the Sony application?
Hi MarB25, thanks for your inquiry. No. To turn on.off the speaker, you have to press the power button. With Music Center app, you can control the Power Option settings (the Ambient Noise Sensing function, STAMINA(Prioritize Battery) power option, Battery Care mode, Battery Level (Voice), Power On/Off Sound, Microphone On/Off notification tone, the Auto Standby function, and the Bluetooth Standby function). Hope this helps.
Are they 360 speakers or just 180?
Great question, Matthew. The XE300 is designed more around portability rather than trying to get sound all around the speaker uniformly. Both of the XE300s speakers are facing the same direction so you can get true Left/Right separation like the artist intended. And with the Line-Shape Diffuser, the sound spreads further to the front area of the speaker allowing you to enjoy the same sound quality whether you are at the front or to the side of the speaker. This means that everyone in your venue can dance to the same music feeling the same sound quality.
how loud is it in dbs?
Thanks for your question. We apologize, the loudness measurement (dB) is not listed as part of the product’s specification. We can guarantee you that you will enjoy listening to XE300. The XE300 speaker is perfect for bringing quality sound to your party. Unlike the circular diaphragm in a conventional speaker unit, the newly developed X-Balanced Speaker Unit in the XE300 features a non-circular diaphragm that realizes more sound pressure for a high-quality sound. Dual passive radiators reproduce powerful bass notes. Plus, this speaker has Sony’s unique Line-Shape Diffuser. The Line-Shape Diffuser sends a wide sound all around, without compromising on quality.
Can a Sony Bluetooth speaker be used while it is charging?
Even if the speaker is plugged into an AC outlet, the built-in battery may run low when you use the speaker at a high volume. Reduce the speaker’s volume if you wish to use it while it charges. If not, turn off the speaker and fully charge the internal battery.
A Sony SRS speaker is water resistan?
Anywhere life takes you, the IP67 waterproof, rustproof, dustproof, and shockproof design is ready. The Sony | Songs Center app also gives you more power over your favourite music.
How can I tell when the battery in my Sony Bluetooth speaker is full?
The built-in lithium ion battery is fully charged if the CHARGE light remains off while the speaker is unplugged from a power source and connected to a USB device. Even if the speaker is kept connected to a USB device, the battery won’t continue to charge after it is full.
Could a Bluetooth speaker be overcharged?
Modern batteries have sophisticated sensors that prevent overcharging, but this does not guarantee that leaving the battery hooked into the charger won’t harm it. One charging cycle is completed when the battery is charged to 100%; the battery can only be charged so many times before it is irreparably harmed.
