Notice: The Steel Horse Audio ST600 Cruiser Edition Motorcycle Speaker System can be used with any 12-volt battery and can be mounted to a variety of bars using the included hardware.
Mount the speakers where they have sufficient clearance, position the speakers so the speakers are directly pointed at the rider.
Note: If you have a different diameter handlebar (7/8″, 1-1/8″ or 1-1/2″) you can request that bracket to be shipped separately.
*In the following steps you will be mounting the speakers, handlebar remote and amplifier, then running the wire from the speakers to the amplifier. Then wiring the amplifier to power and plugging in the handlebar remote. Please be sure to follow all the steps, as one missed step can cause the system to not work properly or not work at all.
We are not responsible for systems that are not installed correctly or not used properly!

STEP 1: MOUNT BRACKETS TO HANDLEBAR

]Install brackets on handlebars where speakers do not obstruct the riders view (such as the handlebars, engine guards or highway/crash bars). Use allen screws that is included on the bracket. The clamps themselves will tighten to the bar when the speakers are installed

STEP 2: MOUNT THE SPEAKERS
Remove the nut, flat washer and lock washer only, and feed the speaker wire through the bracket hole and attach the stem of each speaker to the brackets. Put the lock washer and nut back on through the wire and tighten speaker to bracket. (Flat washer and lock washer go on the bottom). Do not over-tighten! STEP 3 Adjust the speakers so they are directed at the rider’s head. To adjust, just slightly loosen the nut on the speaker stem and move the speaker up or down to align. Make sure all screws are securely fastened and tightened.

STEP 4 Route speaker wires through the bike’s frame to where the amplifier will be installed and proceed to the next steps in amplifier and power connection.
SECURE THE WIRING AWAY FROM MOVING PARTS, PINCH POINTS, OR EXTREME HEAT. STEEL HORSE AUDIO WILL NOT PROVIDE WARRANTY COVERAGE ON ANY ELECTRICAL COMPONENT THAT FAILS DUE TO PINCHED, CRIMPED, BROKEN, ABRADED, MELTED, OR FRAYED WIRES. STEP 5: MOUNT THE AMPLIFIER
Find a place to mount the amplifier such as a tool compartment, under the seatfork bag, saddlebag, swing arm bag, windshield bag, etc. Most places will be but try to avoid areas could cause extreme overheating (such as tight places wrapped in foam or cotton).

CONNECT AMPLIFIER POWER AND MOUNT CONTROLLER

STEP 6: Connect the Yellow power wire from the wire harness to the POSITIVE (+) terminal on the battery.
Connect the Black Ground wire from the wire harness to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal on the battery.
Take the Blue (w/ white stripe) remote-on wire and run it to to a switched power source (headlight, taillight, etc). This is a source that comes on and off with the bike and will tell the system to turn on and off with your vehicle to prevent battery drain.
If blue, yellow & black wires are not connected, system will NOT work. Wait to plug harness in to amplifier until you complete next steps.

STEP 7: Mount the remote using the supplied strap mount and run the remote control wire from the handlebar (or wherever you mount the controller) to the amplifier and plug it in to the amplifier.

CONNECT SPEAKERS TO AMPLIFIER

Connect the speaker wires to the corresponding wires on the amplifier as follows:

Step 8:

  • LEFT SPEAKER (-): Connect the SQUARED wire w/ WHITE LETTERING to the WHITE/BLACK wire from amp (L-) LEFT SPEAKER (+): Connect the ROUNDED wire to the WHITE wire from the amp (L+)

  • RIGHT SPEAKER (-): Connect the SQUARED wire w/ WHITE LETTERING to the GRAY/BLACK wire from amp (R-) RIGHT SPEAKER (+): Connect the ROUNDED wire to the GRAY wire from the amp (R+)

Notice: FIRST TIME SETUP
Handlebar Remote will be in pairing mode when first turning on your system. Just select “RC-WPAMPBT…” from your Bluetooth device to pair. If it does not appear to be in pairing mode, then hold down Pairing button until the light starts to blink slowly in blue.
EQ Modes are 1: Flat, 2: Rock, 3: Pop, 4: Easy, 5: Top 40, 6: Jazz, 7: Powerful
***For other less common features and functions of the remote, please refer to the separate KENWOOD amplifier instructions for more details.

IMPORTANT FINAL STEPS
  • STEP 1 Make sure OUTPUT MODE on the amp is set to 3-4CH on the amp – Even when using only 2 speakers! The 2CH (BRIDGED) option will produce too much power for the speakers to handle and requires special wiring.
  • STEP 2 !Make sure the Filter settings are set to OFF or HPF, depending on your listening preference. OFF will produce more bass but not quite as loud. HPF will be louder but produce less bass.
  • STEP 3! When first listening to your system, you may need to adjust the FADER on the amplifier to your preferred level, especially if using the 4-speaker system.
  • STEP 4! Check the volume levels and EQ on your audio device as this can have a significant effect on sound quality and output.
