Inspection

  • Always inspect your tiles before they are installed.
  • Always layout your material prior to installation to ensure the appearance meets desired results. Apollo Tile is in no way responsible for the installation of our tiles or thereafter.
The responsibility for correct installation rests with the end user.

Installation:

  • To prolong the life and beauty of your installation, it is best to secure a licensed installer familiar with the industry standards established in the NTCA, ASTM, and ANSI
handbooks for tile and trade installation.

  • Protective films on each sheet of metal tiles are to protect the metal tile surfaces and to secure them during transportation.

  • Few individual metal pieces may come loose when peeling off the protective film or during installation. Please note, these pieces can be glued back using any adhesives for
    metal.

  • For easier handling during installation, protective plastic-film on face of each tile should be left on until the tiles are firmly thin-set onto the tile area.

  • Metal mosaic tiles can be cut, however you will lose the beveled edge if you cut the tile.

  • We recommend that you design your installation by laying out the sheets to properly measure and for spacing needed and to avoid cutting tiles as much as possible.

  • Metal mosaic tiles can be cut on mesh using any knife or scissors. Each individual metal mosaic pieces can be cut using good diamond blade saw designed for porcelain or metal cutting.

  • We recommend installing over a clean, sound, and flat concrete or mortar substrate. The surface should be free of contaminates or any condition that could compromise the bond of the tile.

  • Grout joints should be packed full and free of all voids and pits. Excess grout should be cleaned from the surface as the work progresses, while grout is fresh and before it
hardens. Prior to grouting, test in a small area to make sure that the right color grout is chosen and that the surface does not scratch during grouting.

  • We recommend using regular thin set or modified thin set for ceramic wall tile
application to set metal tiles with ceramic backing. Ceramic backed metal mosaics can be set just like ceramic or porcelain wall tile.

  • We recommend using non-sanded grout to prevent from scratching. Do not use abrasive cleaners, powders, heavy scouring pads, steel wool, sandpaper, etc. to remove grout haze or damage to the tile surface will result.

Care and Maintenance

Stone is a natural product and care should be taken to maintain its lasting beauty. To maximize the life of your mosaic and retain its artistic integrity, please consider the following:

  • Use only a mild, pH-neutral detergent cleaner and damp sponge or rag to clean your mosaic.
  • Do not use acid, alkaline, and solvent-based cleaners. They can damage and/or discolor the tiles and the grout.
  • Do not allow soap, bleach or other cleaning solutions set on the surface.
  • Do not wax any part of your mosaic.
  • Do not let stains sit on your mosaic’s surface for extended periods. Clean promptly.
