Laser Designator Technical & Safety Information

User Safety Precautions

The Laser Genetics ND-3P™/ND-3AR™ SUBZERO˚ is not a toy! It

WARNING
Potential Eye Injury & Interference with Critical Activities.

WARNING

Laser Safety Hazard Warning

CAUTION
This laser designator emits laser light. Laser light is very bright and can potentially cause injury to the eyes if not used correctly. Read all operation and safety information prior to use. NEVER LOOK INTO LASER OR AT BRIGHT REFLECTIONS.

WARNING
NEVER aim laser designator or its reflection Cat an air craft at any distance! This is very dangerous and a serious federal offence, which is aggressively investigated and prosecuted with penalties of large fines and/or imprisonment! Illumination of aircraft, vehicles, etc. is DANGEROUS! Do not do it.

WARNING

  • Light from laser designator is very bright! DO NOT aim laser at people or vehicles!
  • NEVER look into the output of the laser designator!
  • Viewing the laser light or a bright reflection can cause potential eye injury!
  • DO NOT allow children to operate laser designator without instruction and close adult supervision.
  • Reflections from flat shiny mirror like surfaces can be as hazardous as the beam itself.
  • Eye injury is theoretically possible if the laser designator’s source is aimed at people using telescopes, rifle scopes, spotting scopes, binoculars, cameras or any other optical light gathering instruments.
  • NEVER aim laser designator near individuals who may interpret your actions as an emergency distress call, unless it is an actual emergency.
  • DO NOT remove or damage any safety labels which are present on laser designator.
  • DO NOT attempt to disassemble the laser designator; this can lead to hazardous exposure.
  • DO NOT attempt any repair or modification, return to factory for all service.
  • DO NOT use if lens is cracked or broken.
  • No maintenance or service is allowed by the customer.

Due to the laser beams low divergence it makes a small bright spot at very long distances.  Aiming a laser at aircraft, watercraft, vehicles, law enforcement officials or other situations where vision and situational awareness are critical, can cause disruptions of safe operation of these craft, cause dangerous situations, and could be a criminal offense.

The laser’s power is quite low, and generally presents a hazard no greater than that of the laser used in a grocery store check-out scanner.  The safety rating for both this laser product and grocery store scanners is laser safety “Class 2M”.  The US and international safety standards

(IEC 60825-1) under which this product is designed and tested, indicates that Class 2M laser products are safe under the following circumstances:

  • If the laser flashes across your eyes, allow yourself to blink and look away. The normal ‘blink reflex’ is quick enough to prevent a hazardous eye exposure.  Never stare into the laser beam or reflection.
  • DO NOT look directly into laser beam with optical instruments. Binoculars, telescopes etc. collect more light than your bare eye if they look directly into the beam or a bright reflection.

This Class of laser will not cause skin burns, nor start fires. The only potential hazard is only to the eyes if instructions for use are not followed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Ethernet cable be used in place of Wi-Fi?****

You can, indeed. Actually, Ethernet performs superior to Wi-Fi. It is also faster and safer.

Utilize on a 720p?****

Go to display type under settings. Next, choose 720p, 1080p, or 4K.

Can you put content on the memory stick for recording?****

No, a memory card should only be used to store extra channel or provider apps.

How can I link this to a vintage TV?****

Depending on the age. You might attempt an HDMI to composite video, audio converter if the TV lacks an HDMI input. You need a new TV if the current one is so outdated that it lacks any multi-media inputs.

Can I transmit the screen of my laptop to a Roku device? I’m using several websites to view documents and videos. Same Wi-Fi is used by both the laptop and the Roku.****

Your laptop can be “cast” to a Roku device, yes. I completed it. My preferred method of storing video is on a USB stick, but this particular gadget only supports microSD.

Does each TV in the house need its own unit, or will one unit serve all the TVs?****

A single unit per TV. An HDMI cable must be used to connect it to the TV.

Does it support DVR on PS Vue, Spectrum, Direct TV, and other platforms?****

It is not a DVR, and you cannot record anything with it.

Is it possible to connect the Roka Premium + to a DVR?****

If the DVR has an HDMI socket, then yes.

Do you require an internet connection to watch the programmers? Is the box hard wired to the television as well? I have three televisions; thus I presume I need to get an EAC box.****

You do indeed need internet to download and watch programmers. The Roku to TV HDMI cable is there on the box. Match the Roku model’s output to the TV’s quality for 3 TVs. As an illustration, my main TV is a 4K TV. A 4K signal is output by the Premiere+. I use a cheaper Roku Stick because my other two TVs aren’t 4K. You do, however, need one Roku for each TV.

Is this Roku Premiere Plus 110v compatible? Can it be used on 220/240v without any issues?****

I frequently use my US-purchased Roku in Europe. A local plug adaptor is all that is required. The power transformer that comes with it, as mentioned in the previous response, can manage currents between 110V and 240V.
