MOUNTING BACK COVER OF CHIME BUTTON
Note: Mounting Chime Button on aluminum siding or metal door frame may
reduce range.
If you want to cover the wire hole from your existing button, save mounting of
the new Chime Button until after removing the existing button.
- Remove cover from back of Button by inserting ballpoint pen into round hole at bottom of transmitter and gently pushing in on tab. Lift Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
- For tape mounting:
- Make sure surfaces are free of dust, oil, and other substances that could affect adhesion.
- Attach double-sided tape to Chime Button back cover.
- Making sure that the end with the hook-shaped latch is facing down, press cover firmly to mounting surface.
- For screw mounting:
- Place Chime Button back cover where desired and mark screw locations.
- Place Chime Button back cover against mounting surface and screw into marked locations using screws enclosed (may require drilling pilot holes on hardwoods).
RECEIVER BATTERY INSTALLATION
- Remove both brass tubes by press-ing each tube in the center and lifting forward (see diagram). This will release the tube covers and expose the battery compartments.
- Insert 2 “D” alkaline batteries into each of the compartments accord-ing to the (+,-) placement guides shown.
- Snap brass tube covers back in place.
MOUNTING BATTERY CHIME RECEIVER
- Mark screw locations onto wall for position.
- Drill 7/32″ holes into wall for plastic anchors. Place anchors into holes and install silver screws.
- Leave screw heads extending about 1/4″ from wall.
- Slide Receiver base onto screws and lock into slots.
- Place Decorator Chime cover over Receiver base.
TEST
Press Chime Button(s). Receiver should play tone.
TO REPLACE BATTERIES
- Remove Chime Button from back cover by inserting ballpoint pen into round hole at the bottom of the Button and gently pushing in on tab. Lift Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
- Remove old batteries by placing a small screw-driver or ballpoint pen in the slot directly beneath the batteries. Lift the top battery out of the battery compartment. Repeat with second battery. (Do not hit Chime Button to remove batteries – this could damage the Button.)
- Replace old batteries with new batteries, posi-tive (+) side up.
CAUTION – The batteries used in this device may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 100ºC (212ºF), or incinerate. Replace with UL approved Type CR2032 3 volt lithium batteries from Carlon (RC3395D), Radio Shack, Toshiba, Sharp, NewSun, or Sony only. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion.
CHANGING TONE/MELODY SELECTION
To change tone to different tone or melody, press once on the small raised
Button located on top of the Button. Receiver will play next selection. To
continue changing melody or selection, press down once again and wait for
Receiver to confirm change.
Note: If you change songs or tones too rapidly, the Receiver will not
play each selection. Only last melody or tone selected will play. Selecting
while Receiver is playing will switch system to new setting, but Receiver will
only finish playing tone or melody already in progress.
VOLUME CONTROL
Adjust loudness by moving volume control lever on back of Chime Receiver to
desired position.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS:
- PROBLEM: Receiver does not sound when Chime Button is pressed.
- SUGGESTION: Verify that batteries are installed correctly in the button and battery contacts are in the correct position. Try replacing batteries first. Check that Receiver and Button are placed within operating range.
- PROBLEM: When Chime Button is pressed, Receiver plays “Please replace button batteries” or “Please replace chime batteries” at the end of melody or tone.
- SUGGESTION: “Please replace button batteries”at the end of melody or tone warns that Chime Button batteries are getting low. Replace Chime Button bat-teries. “Please replace chime batteries” indicates the Chime Receiver batteries are getting low. Replace Chime Receiver batteries.
- PROBLEM: Chime only plays “dong.”
- SUGGESTION: Press Scroll Button on Transmitter to change sound options.
- PROBLEM: Receiver sometimes plays without anyone pressing Chime But-ton.
- SUGGESTION: If another Wireless Chime System nearby is on the same frequency, it could accidentally trigger your system. If this happens, change privacy code.
PRIVACY CODES and HOW TO CHANGE THEM
It is NOT necessary to change the privacy code unless interference occurs. If
you need to change code:
- Use a nail clipper or wire cutter to cut and separate one of the wires (“A” through “E”) on Chime Receiver. Make sure cut wire does not touch any other wire.
- Remove back cover off Chime Button and locate the wires, which are in the rectangular compartment adjacent to the batteries. The wires are designated “A” through “E” with letters located immediately above them.
- Using a nail clipper or wire cutter, cut and separate the same wire that was cut on the Chime Receiver. Make sure that the cut wire does not touch any other wire.
Note: It doesn’t matter which wires are cut, but be sure that the same wire cut on the Button matches that of the Receiver. If the wire cut on the Chime Button does not match the wire cut on the Chime Receiver, the system will not work. Suggestion: Begin by cutting just one wire in the Chime Re- ceiver and the same wire in the Chime Button. Test to see if the problem is eliminated. If the system is still not working properly, try cutting another wire. DON’T FORGET THAT EVERY TIME A WIRE IS CUT IN THE CHIME RECEIVER, THE CORRESPONDING WIRE MUST BE CUT IN THE CHIME BUTTON.
