Installation
CAUTION
RISK OF DROPPED OR FALLING EQUIPMENT
- The equipment is heavy. Follow guidelines given in supplied Safety Guide for lifting and sliding the frame into the rack.
- Install battery modules only after the battery frame is installed in the rack.
- Place the rack in the location where the equipment will be used.
- Do not move the rack once the battery frame is secured.
- Secure the battery frame in the rack before installing battery modules. Do not use the UPS as a safety disconnect.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in equipment damage and minor or moderate injury
External Battery Frame SRYLFXBPRM4
Install the battery frame in a rack

Install XBP rail (supplied) in the rack. Be sure to align the bottom mounting hole on the rails to hole #2 (from bottom) on the rack.

Secure the XBP rail to the rack with 12 flat head screws and conical washers (supplied). Utilize holes 2 and 4 on the front of the rails and all the 4 holes on the rear of the rails for securing the rails to the rack.

Install up to 3 nos. (on each rail) panhead screws with SEMs washer (supplied) to lock the rails in position.NOTE: Install thepanhead screws with SEMs at those locations where the tapped hole is visible through the slot inthe rail.

Install the battery frame in the rack.

Secure the battery frame to the rack. Use 6 nos. ornamental screws supplied.
External Battery Pack SRYLRMXBP
Install the battery frame in a rack
Refer to “External Battery Frame SRYLFXBPRM4” on page 2 for installing the frame in a rack. The installation procedure is the same.
Remove Blanking Panels
NOTE: Remove the blanking panels only if more than 2 battery modules need to be installed.
- nsert a slotted screwdriver into the slot on the blanking panel.
- Push the screw driver gently into the slot till a resistance is felt, and pull out the blanking panel using the finger grip.

Install Battery Module(s)
CAUTION
RISK OF DROPPED OR FALLING EQUIPMENT
- The equipment is heavy. Follow guidelines given in supplied Safety Guide for lifting and sliding the frame into the rack.
- The approximate weight of each battery module is 10 kg (22 lb).
- Be sure to hold the battery module with both hands during installation.
- Do not use the finger hold to lift or carry the module.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in equipment damage and minor or moderate injury

a. Orient the module so the thumbscrew is towards the middle of the frame.
b. Slide in the module until the latch engages.

Hand tighten the thumbscrew to enable the module and lock the latch.
Connect XBP
CAUTION
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
XBP installation must be performed by a qualified electrician or service
personnel.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in equipment damageand
minor or moderate injury.
Connect XBP to UPS

Locate the screw securing the UPS battery connector cover to the UPS frame and unfasten it.

Remove the UPS battery connector cover.

Insert the XBP power cable connector into the UPS battery connector.

Tighten the thumbscrew to secure the XBP power cable connector to the UPS battery connector.

Set a unique identification (ID) number on the FRAME# SETTING switch (refer to “Rear Panel Features of XBP” section in the UPS user manual for location of this switch). The position of the notch on the dial indicates the set unique ID number.

Connect the XBP communication cable between the XBP communication ports on the UPS frame and the battery frame.

Connect the CAN bus communication end termination dongle to the free XBP communication port on the battery frame.
NOTE: The XBP status LED illuminates green when communication with the UPS is established. Otherwise XBP status LED illuminates red.
Connect XBP to another XBP

Locate the screw securing the XBP battery connector cover to the battery frame (Frame#1) and unfasten it.

Remove the XBP battery connector cover in Frame#1.

Insert the XBP power cable connector of Frame#2 into the XBP battery connector in Frame#1.

Tighten the thumbscrew to secure the XBP power cable connector of Frame#2 to the XBP battery connector in Frame#1.

Set a unique identification (ID) number on the FRAME# SETTING switch (refer to “Rear Panel Features of XBP” section in the UPS user manual for location of this switch).
The position of the notch on the dial indicates the set unique ID number. NOTE: Set a unique ID for each battery frame connected. -
Connect the XBP communication cable between the free XBP communication ports on Battery Frame#1 and Battery Frame#2.

Connect the CAN bus communication end termination dongle to the free XBP communication port on the Battery Frame#2.
NOTE: The CAN bus communication end termination dongle should be connected to the free XBP communication port on the last Battery Frameconnected.
NOTE: The XBP status LED illuminates green when communication with the UPS is established. Otherwise XBP status LED illuminates red.
