PoolSTYLE SSCmini EMX-450-0002 Salt Chlorinator

Dear Client,
We thank you for choosing this SSCmini chlorination system. On the following pages you will find the main information about this equipment. Let us invite you to discover more about our entire range of products. We hope you like it!

Safety warnings

Before installing this product, read and follow the next warning notes and instructions :

  • All the installation, operation and maintenance procedures must be done by a qualified professional, or else by a person who has been properly instructed.
  • Always unplug the control unit when carrying out all these mentoned labours.
  • Make sure that the electrical wiring allows the salt chlorinator to run if and when the filtrate on pump i s running. We suggest connecting SSCmini power cable to the pump tamer located in the main electrical box.
  • After periodical maintenance, check the system for any leakage.
  • If electrical components of the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately.
  • Rising the amount of salt into the water pool increases the probability of undergoing corrosion or other deterioraton processes within your pool equipment.
  • Chlorine gas build-up can occur if the salt chlorinator is turned on when the filtration pump is not running, or running under a low flowrate.
  • For chemical cleaning, use the proper safety gear and refer to the chemical product instruction on how to handle and dispose those cleaning products.

Installation guide

To achieve the correct installaton, please follow the recommendations listed below:

General considerations
  • If you are installing this system in a plastered pool, wait at least 1 month after having installed the shell to run the unit. This way the plaster will be able to cure properly.
  • It is recommended to install a sacrifice anode and bond it as well as the other pool metal components to the main ground, in order to avoid galvanic corrosion.
Control unit
  • Choose a convenient well-ventilated area, respecting always the length of the cell wire.
  • The control unit must be kept away from the sunlight, any source of heat or any other chemical storage.
  • Fix the control unit vertically at least 1.5 meters above the ground level and away at least 3 meters form the pool.
  • Connect the pump in a way that the control unit runs if and when the SSC system does so, as it is said in 1.Safety warnings.
  • Beware of the rear aluminium heatsink: it can reach high temperatures
Electrolytic cell
  • The cell must be placed horizontally, close to the pool return.
  • In order to optimize the chlorine effeteness, the cell has to be piped as shown in the 3.Facility scheme.
  • The water flow indication on the cell housing must be regarded.
  • A by-pass in the electrolytic cell is strongly advised.
  • If there is a heating or a UV system, it is highly advisable to install a check valve after these components. Any complementary UV-disinfection system should be installed before SSCmini cell.
  • Before connecting or handling the cell electric connectors, make sure that the power supply is not connected.

Operating instructions

To achieve the correct installation, please follow the recommendations listed below:

  • Salt must be added into the pool before turning on the system. The SSCmini system must be turned off. Wait until the salt is dissolved by running the filtering pump and placing the 6-way valve in recirculation mode.
  • dding salt in various time and places makes easier for the salt to get dissolved.
  • The main chemical parameters should be kept around the values appearing in the section 2.Main features.
  • Not maintaining these chemical values may:
    • Harm and reduce the cell’s life time.
    • Inactivate chlorine effectiveness.
    • Deteriorate the pool components.
  • The water balance and a good operation environment must be assured so as to ensure a safe pool.
  • In case of extreme hot weather or high bather load, it is recommended to increase the output power of the SSCmini system or to add solid/liquid chlorine.
Control Panel

Panel

  1. Low cell life: The cell reached the end of its expected life and must be replaced.

  2. No Flow: there is no water flow throughout the cell.

  3. General alarm: Refer to the section 7.Troubleshooting

  4. Stand-by mode: The unit is not producing.

  5. Normal operation: The unit is producing.

  6. Super chlorination: The unit is producing during 24 hours continuously
    Buttons

  7. Super chlorination: produces 24 hours continuously

  8. Work schedule control: Raises(+) or lowers(-) the producing time reflected on the work schedule LEDs

  9. Work schedule (production): Each LED represents 6 min of chlorine production. I.e.: 3 LEDs equals to 18 min, 4 LEDs equals to 24 min, and so forth.

Maintenance operations

  • In regard of water hardness, the cell must be checked within different periods of time so as to avoid excessive build-up scaling.
  • As said in 5.Operation instructions, it is mandatory to keep the chemical balance in a specific range. Not doing so, the SSC Mini warranty cell could become void.
  • In order to clean the cell, proceed as follows:
  1. Disconnect the control unit.
  2. Remove the cell from its housing after having drained the pipeline regarding to the salt chlorinator. Rinse with fresh water the cell so as to remove any debris or other particle.
  3. After having considered the safety instructions mentioned on 1.Safety warnings, mix 1 part of muriatic acid with 4 of fresh water in a bucket. Always add acid to the water, never backwards.
  4. Introduce the cell into this solution. Repeat after having rinsed with fresh water. Do not scrub with a metal brush
  5. Afterwards, rinse the cell with fresh water and assemble it again.
  6. Before turning on again the cell, allow the cell housing to be filled with water.
  • A very high water hardness may cause excessive scaling. To avoid that, drain some water 1and refill with sotfened water.
  • When backwashing the filter, disconnect the control unit in order not to produce chlorine without being evacuated out of the cell housing. Do the same in recirculate and waste valve position
