Instructions
- Measurement: Rinse the probe in distilled water and dry it. Dip the probe in the sample solution. Stir gently and wait until you receive a stable reading.
- After measurement, rinse the probe with distilled water, dry it, and put the protection cap back on. It’s a good practice to pour a bit storage solution that comes with kit into the protection cap when storing the meter, since it will help keep the accuracy of the probe.
Notes
-
It is no need to calibrate when testing ORP, but if suspect to the performance of meter or the measurement result, then can use ORP standard solution to test to identity whether the ORP electrode or meter is accurate. The meter comes with the following standard solution: 220mV ± 15mV (25°C).
-
After the electrode has been used over a long period of time, the platinum surface will get polluted which causes inaccurate measurement and slow response. Please refer to the following methods to clean and activate ORP electrode:
(a) For inorganic pollutant, soak the electrode in 0.1mol/L dilute hydrochloric acid for 30 minutes, then wash it in distilled water, then soak it in the 3M KCL storage solution for 6 hours.
(b) For organic or lipid pollutant, clean the platinum surface with detergent, then wash it in distilled water, then soak it in the 3M KCL storage solution for 6 hours.
(c) For heavily polluted platinum surface on which there is oxidation film, polish the platinum surface with toothpaste, then wash it in distilled water, then soak it in the 3M KCL storage solution for 6 hours. -
The ORP electrode of this meter can be replaced. The replacement probe’s model number is SX635.
