Introduction
Sphero Specdrums are music rings with app capabilities that let you use the environment as an instrument by converting colors into sounds. Tap on anything, including your clothes, drawings, or the accompanying playing pad, while connected to the Specdrums MIX or Edu app, to mix and create sounds, rhythms, and loops that all play through your smartphone. Anytime, wherever, jam with others or by yourself. The sleekly designed Specdrums rings offer a portable, tactile way to learn how to make music without having to spend money on expensive, specialty instruments. These rings feature an accelerometer, light sensor, and Bluetooth Low energy connectivity. You can mix and create complete songs with the swipe of a finger thanks to the handpicked sound packs offered by the MIX app.
Specdrums can also be connected to any other Bluetooth MIDI-compatible music creation program, including GarageBand and Ableton Live. HOW IT WORKS

HOW TO CONNECT TO PHONE
- Attach the spectrum ring to the USB cable and plug it into an outlet.
- Download the Spectrum’s mix app to your iOS or Android device.
- Once it is downloaded, open the app and you will be prompted to turn on your device’s Bluetooth.
- Tap the connect icon in the upper left and select your ring.

With this work with my son’s iPhone 8?
I don’t see why not. My son uses with an iPad and they are GREAT!
Does the app need to be connected to internet to work?
It works with Bluetooth. I don’t think you have to have internet for it go work.
Will this work with Garageband?
It seems a bit odd to me how this device isn’t compatible with GarageBand, yet is supported by more advanced draws such as Ableton.
Will this work with Amazon fire tablets?

How large are the rings? My son is just turning 6 and I’d like to get this for him but am wondering that the rings may be too large.
The inside diameter of the rings are 1.5cm. The rings are flexible and do expand.
It costs less to order two separate rings than to order the two packs. Is there any downside to doing it that way?
No downside at all. I’ve ordered it both ways.
Is this compatible with nook or pc?

Is the app compatible with iPad mini 2?
Yes.
Does this work with Chromebook?
If it has Bluetooth Low Energy then yes.
Will this work with any iPad? The compatibility list just shows mini and air
It should work with late model iPads as well.
Can it be connected to a laptop? Does it need the app to play?

In the video I see color pads a kid is playing on the bottom of a skateboard. Where can I buy those?
The skateboard was custom-painted so, unfortunately, it is not available for purchase. This item does include a color pad for playing, though!
