niko 05-311 Mini Hand Held RF Transmitter

DESCRIPTION

The wireless hand-held transmitters are part of the Niko RF system (Radio Frequency) that operates according to the Easy wave protocol, an installation technique that does not require any wiring between the control points (push buttons) and the consumers to be operated. The hand-held transmitters have the shape of an ordinary remote control. Every transmitter can control an unlimited number of receivers simultaneously.

OPERATION, USE AND PROGRAMMING

Hand-held transmitter 05-311 is a transmitter with 1 push button. You can only use the hand-held transmitter for 1-button control (see user manual receiver). You can control the receiver(s) by pressing the button once. The hand-held transmitter’s control LED lights in confirmation. 05-317
Hand-held transmitter 05-314 is a transmitter with 4 push buttons. You can only use the hand-held transmitter for 1-, 2- and 4-button control (see user manual receiver). You can control the receiver(s) by pressing the button once. The hand-held transmitter’s control LED lights in confirmation. Depending on the chosen mode on the receiver, you can control a number of circuits independently. For more details concerning the mode, see the user manuals of the receivers.

Receiver(s) in 1-button mode:
A, B, C and D operate as separate push buttons with which you can control max. 4 circuits independently.

Receiver(s) in 2-button mode:
A, B and C, D are pairs operating in 2-button mode with which you can control max. 2 circuits independently.

Receiver(s) in 4-button mode:

05-312
Hand-held transmitter 05-312 is a transmitter with 13 push buttons and 4 channel selection buttons.
For each of the 4 channels, there are 3 control points with 2 push buttons, 1 control point with 4 push buttons and 1 control point with 3 push buttons. Depending on the chosen mode on the receiver, you can control a number of circuits independently. For more details concerning the mode, see the user manuals of the receivers.

Receiver(s) in 1-button mode:
All push buttons operate as separate push buttons with which you can control max.
13 circuits per channel (52 circuits in all) independently.

Receiver(s) in 2-button mode:
The pairs A, B or C, D operate together in 2-button mode with which you can control max. 6 circuits per channel (24 circuits in all) independently.

Receiver(s) in 4-button mode:
A, B, C and D are each part of the 4-button mode with which you can control max.
1 circuit per channel (4 circuits in all) independently.

Note: for an number of 4-button modes (o.a. for shutter controls), buttons C and D have the same function. You can thus also assign these modes to the control point with 3 push buttons (at the bottom of the transmitter). This way, you can control 1 additional circuit per channel (4 additional circuits in all) independently.

Sending a signal:
Channel selection (buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 top)
Press 1 of the 4 channel selection buttons to select a channel. The resp. red LED blinks for 30s.

Choice of function key
For as long as the red LED of the channel selection blinks, you can activate one of the 13 push buttons. Press one button to send a signal to the receiver(s). The LED lights for 1s (= min. time) or for as long as you press the push button (max. 36s.). The LED blinks again for 30s. During these 30s, you can activate another function key of the same channel. This is repeated until you send nothing for 30s (red LED goes out) or select another channel.

05-318
Hand-held transmitter 05-313 is a transmitter with 3 push buttons and 1 channel selection button. By means of the channel selection button, you can select 1 of the 5 channels. For each of the 5 channels, there are 3 push buttons. Depending on the chosen mode on the receiver, you can control a number of circuits independently. For more details concerning the mode, see the user manuals of the receivers. Receiver(s) in 1-button mode:
A, B, and C operate as separate push buttons with which you can control max. 3 circuits per channel (15 circuits in all) independently.

Receiver(s) in 2-button mode:
The pair A, B operates together in 2-button mode with which you can operate 1 circuit per channel (5 circuits in all) independently.

Receiver(s) in 4-button mode:
For an number of 4-button modes (o.a. for shutter controls), buttons C and D have the same function. You can thus assign these modes to a hand-held transmitter.
A, B and C are each part of the 4-button mode With which you can control max. 1 circuit per channel (5 circuits in all) independently.

Sending a signal:
Channel selection (button K)
Press the channel selection button to select a channel. The last activated channel is selected. Afterwards, the red LED blinks each time you press the channel selection button. The LEDs indicate which channel is selected (if all LEDs light simultaneously, channel 5 (group channel) is selected).
The LED of the selected channel blinks for 30s.

Choice of function key
For as long as the red LED of the channel selection blinks, you can activate 1 of the 3 push buttons.

For instructions to program the RF system, refer to the user manual of the RF receivers that operate according to the Easywave protocol.

Range between wireless transmitters and receivers

Appliances with remote control such as TV, video and audio sets are not interfered by wireless transmitters. The transmitters do not have to be pointed optically towards the receiver. The range indoors is ±30m, in open field 100m. The ranges depend upon the materials used in the building. You can use the diagnosis unit 05-370 to determine the RF signal strength in a given environment. The appliance recognizes all 868,3Mhz signals. The receiver quality of the transmitter signal or the strength of interference is displayed by 9 LEDs. This way, you can determine whether the range of the RF transmitter is sufficient.niko 05-311-Mini Hand Held-RF-

Environment

This product and/or the batteries provided cannot be deposited in non- recyclable waste. take your discarded product to a recognized collection point. Just like producers and importers, you too play an important role in the promotion of sorting, recycling and reuse of discarded electrical and electronic equipment. To finance the rubbish collection and waste treatment, the government levies recycling charges in certain cases (included in the price of this product).

Inserting/replacing batteries

Replace the battery if the LED blinks weakly or not at all during start-up.

  • Remove the battery cover (for 05-312, use a screwdriver).
  • Avoid direct contact with the battery to avoid discharging.
  • The use of NiCd batteries is not allowed.
  • Insert the new battery. Take into account the polarity. (‘+’ and ‘-’ sign in the compartment).
  • Use 3V CR2032 (2 batteries for 05-312).
  • Klick (or screw down for 05-312) the battery cover back in place.
  • Hand in used batteries at a recognized collection point.
Installation instructions and recommendations

NEVER place a transmitter:

  • In a metal distribution box, housing or netting;
  • In the immediate vicinity of large metal objects;
  • On or near the floor.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the system does not operate after programming, you can carry out a number of additional checks.

New installation
  • Check whether the protection between the battery and the contacts in the transmitter has been removed.
  • Check whether the battery and the contacts make good permanent contact.
  • Check the mains voltage on the receiver in the distribution board.
  • Check if everything is connected as indicated in the wiring diagrams (see user manual receivers).
  • Reset and (re)program the receiver (see user manual receivers; programming).
Existing installation
  • Check the batteries of the transmitter(s).
  • Check the mains voltage (230V~) on the receiver.
  • Check the operation of the connected load.
  • Check for interference caused by changes in the system environment (metal cabinets, walls or furniture moved….) Restore the original condition, if possible.
Transmitter malfunction

Pick up the transmitter and walk towards the receiver.

  • If the system works at reduced distance: the transmitter has been placed outside the transmitter range or there is an interference problem. You can also use the diagnosis unit (05-370) to measure the strength of the sent RF signal. For a transmitter outside the range, you can use the repeater (05-335).
  • The system does not work even after placing it closer to the receiver; check the programming (see user manual receivers; programming) and/or the battery of the transmitter.
The system automatically switches on and off
  • The system automatically switches on: This is only possible if a foreign transmitter was programmed in the receiver within the receiver range. Reset the receiver
  • and reprogram the relevant addresses (see user manual receivers, programming).
The system automatically switches off: this situation can be similar to the situation described above or be the result of brief current interruptions.
