Roland JUNO-X Programmable Polyphonic Synthesizer User Guide
Introduction
You can use the screen, sliders, knobs and buttons of the JUNO-X to control
Apple’s Main Stage application by using a Main Stage profile.
NOTE
This explains the steps to take based on Main Stage version 3.4.3. The menus
and other controls may differ in other versions.
Preparing to Use the Profile
Specifying the JUNO-X’s USB Driver.
- The USB driver settings take effect when you turn the power of the JUNO-X off and on again.

Press the [MENU] (WRITE) button.

Use the [ SELECT ] knob to select “SYSTEM”, and then press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.

Use the [ SELECT ] knob to select “USB Driver”, and use the [-VALUE+] knob to specify “VENDOR”.

To save the settings, hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the [MENU] (WRITE) button.
A confirmation message appears.
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button. -
To execute, press the [ENTER] (INIT) button.

Turn the JUNO-X’s power off and then on again.
Installing the USB Driver
Install the USB driver on your Mac.

Access the product support page.

Search for the product name, and download the JUNO-X Driver.
From “Updates & Drivers”, download the driver appropriate for the Mac model you’re using. -
Install the driver as directed by the procedure given on the download page.
Installing the Profile
Install the MainStage profile on your Mac.

Access the product support page.

Search for the product name, and download the profile.
From “Updates & Drivers”, download the profile “JUNO-X Profile for Main Stage”. -
Decompress the downloaded ZIP file.

Double-click the file with a “.pkg” extension. Installation begins.

Proceed with installation as directed by the screen.

When the indication “Installation is completed” appears, click the [Close] button.
Connecting Main Stage
- Use a USB cable to connect the JUNO-X to your Mac.
- Start Main Stage.
- In Main Stage, open the concert that you want to use.
- Hold down the JUNO-X’s [PART/FUNC] button and press the [MENU] (WRITE) button.
When connection is successful, the DAW CTRL function turns on, and the JUNO-X’s display shows the DAW CTRL screen.
MEMO
When you turn on the DAW CTRL function, there might be cases in which
sound cannot be produced for a short time. This is due to the processing
needed to load the Concert data for Main Stage, and is not a malfunction.
- When you want to stop using DAW control, press the [EXIT] button to turn off the DAW CTRL function.
NOTE
If the connection is not correct, a screen like the following appears.
- Verify that the USB cable is correctly connected.
- Check whether the driver is correctly installed.
Controlling Main Stage
When the DAW CTRL function is on, you can use the JUNO-X’s sliders, knobs and buttons to operate Main Stage.

Changes made in Main Stage to parameter names such as the Set name, Track name, and Smart Control parameter names might not be immediately reflected in the JUNO-X’s screen.

The Smart Control parameter values change according to the settings in Main Stage. It is not necessarily the case that operations on the JUNO-X will be able to set the parameter all the way to its minimum value or maximum value. Make prior settings in Main Stage as necessary to reach the desired range.

In case of problem, select the Edit mode “Assignment & Mappings” tab in the Main Stage screen and check if the port is set as follows.

If the Main Stage project was already assigned to another controller, it can happen it takes of setting.

When you turn off the DAW CTRL function, the knob indications return to the function that had been previously selected. You cannot set these functions when the DAW CTRL function is off
