MOB MO6382 4-Piece Coaster Game Set
TIC-TAC-TOE
PLAYERS:
2 Players
EQUIQMENT:
2 Different coloured pegs
OBJECTIVE:
- To have 3 pegs of your colour in a straight line
HOW TO PLAY:
Anyone can play this simple game. Each player chooses a colour to represent
them. Decide who goes first. He or she may put a peg in any of the nine
sections of the grid. The second player goes next. Continue to play
alternately until there are three in a row of one colour, or the grid is
filled, and no one has won. The winner should start the next game. The centre
space is arguably the best to get first. Starting in an outside middle square
can be a bad move if you have a clever opponent.
BACKGAMMON
PLAYERS:
- 2 Players
EQUIQMENT:
- 2 Different coloured pegs
OBJECTIVE:
- To remove all your checkers from the board first
HOW TO PLAY:
- Figuring out who goes first can be done by rolling the dice and whoever has the higher number wins unless you’d rather decide on your own who goes first.
- The player who won the dice toss will start the game by rolling the dice to see how many moves they’ll be able to allow their checkers to go. Your objective is to get all your checkers into your home board which is your one to six points. For the amount you rolled you can use both dice for one checker, or you can use the amount on one die to move one checker and the other die amount for another checker. Once you get all fifteen checkers to your home, you can start to bear them off.
- You can bar your opponent’s checkers off by moving yours onto a spot occupied by one of your opponent’s checkers. They’ll then have to remove that checker from the game and roll the dice on their turn to get back in the game. They need to roll a one through six to get back onto the opponent’s home if the amount rolled is unoccupied by two or more of the opponent’s checkers.
- Once you’ve got all your checkers in your home board, you’ll be able to bear them off. You’ll do this by rolling the dice. If you roll a one, you’ll be able to take off a checker that is on your first point or if you roll a six, it must be removed from the sixth point, whichever die number corresponds to your occupied points. If you can’t make a move, your turn is over.
- The game is won by removing all fifteen of your checkers from the board first.
CHESS
PLAYERS:
2 Players
EQUIQMENT:
Black/White chess pegs
OBJECTIVE:
- To capture your opponent’s King
BOARD SETUP:
1st Row:
- A/H (Rook)
- B/G (Knight)
- C/F (Bishop)
- D (King)
- E (Queen)
2nd Row:
- A-H (Pawn)
PIECE MOVEMENTS:
- Move a Pawn one to two squares directly forward if it has not yet moved. Move it just one space directly forward if it has moved previously. Move it forward to a diagonal, adjacent square to capture.
- Move a Rook any number of spaces forward, backwards or to either side. Move in only one direction each turn. Move a Bishop any number of spaces in any diagonal direction. Move in only one direction each turn.
- Move a Knight in an “1-2 shaped direction. The Knight moves two spaced in either a horizontal or vertical direction and then one space perpendicular to the previous two spaces, or one space horizontally or vertically and then two spaces perpendicular to the previous space.
- Move a Queen any number of spaces in any horizontal, vertical, or diagonal direction.
- Move a King one space in any horizontal, vertical, or diagonal direction. The King cannot move into “check” and must move out of check, if possible. The Knight is the only piece that can “jump over” other pieces in its path.
HOW TO PLAY:
Decide who will play white and who will play black. The white player moves
first. Take turns making legal moves with one piece at a time. Capture your
opponent’s pieces by legally moving one of your pieces onto a square by one of
your opponent’s pieces. Protect your King from capture by moving it out of
danger, blocking it with other pieces or capturing would-be-captures with your
pieces. Place your opponent’s King in check by positioning your pieces such
that your opponent’s King is in immediate danger of being captured. Place your
opponent’s King in checkmate by positioning your pieces such that your
opponent’s King cannot avoid being captured. If you accomplish this, you win
the game. If your Pawn makes it to your opponent’s first row, it becomes any
piece of your choice other than a King or a Pawn. Most people turn into a
Queen, which is the more versatile piece. In this way it is possible to have
several Queens on the board at one time.
CHINESE CHECKERS
PLAYERS:
2-3 Players
EQUIQMENT:
Coloured pegs
OBJECTIVE:
To get all the pegs to the opposite point of the star
HOW TO PLAY:
The board has a six-pointed star. Each point of the star is a triangle with
two holes. Each triangle is a different colour and has three holes (two holes
to each side). The middle of the playing board is a hexagon. Each side of the
hexagon has 3 holes. There are three sets of pegs. Each set has three pegs of
a specific colour. When a player takes a turn, they may move one pegs. The
pegs can be moved to an adjacent open space or may jump over other pegs that
are right next to the pegs.
BOARD SETUP:
The game can be played by up to six players. Each player chooses a colour and
then places the three pegs of that colour into the triangle of the same
colour:
- Two players – Each player moves to the opposite triangle on the board. For a longer game, then each player can play two or three sets of pegs.
- Three players – Each player moves to the opposite triangle on the board. For a longer game, each player can play two sets of pegs.
