Safety instructions

The filter system is of a low-voltage type, and it is protected against water penetration. If the power cord or other components are damaged, the entire filter pump must replaced before the system is safe to use.

Disassembly of the skimmer filter

If there is damage to the filter system, the procedure is as follows:

  • Disconnect the system from the power source
  • Remove the filter from the pool
  • Remove the pump from the filter system

Winter storage

The filter system should be removed and stored in a frost-free place over the winter. The filter system must be also be removed when it is not going to be used for a long period of time. When removing, clean the filter before it dries out. After being stored over the winter the system is put back in the pool as described for the initial operation.

Safety regulations

  • There must be a minimum distance of 3.5 metres between the tansformer and the pool
  •  Electrical installations must be performed by an authorised electrician
  • The filter system must be turned off when the pool is being used
  • The filter system must NEVER run without water
  • Do not touch the system with wet hands while it is running
  • If the filter needs to be handled, it must always first be disconnected from the power source
  • If the filter needs to be handled, it should always be done on a dry surface
  • Never store the filter in a damp place, as it may lead to an electric shock
  • Children and adults should never sit/lean on the filter
  • If the power cord becomes damaged, the entire installation must be replaced
  • Any questions should be directed to the pool distributor or to [email protected]

Initial operation

Warning
Never run the pump without water. It will lead to damage to the pump.

This filter system is designed for use in swimming pools with fresh water. This is an IPX8 safety class electrical device (resistant to penetration by dust, solid particles and moisture).

Connection of the filter

The transformer must be connected to a standard 230V 50 Hz power source that is protected with a residual current device. The instructions in this manual must be carefully followed. The filter system is placed in the pool facing the prevailing wind so that any dirt on the surface reaches the filter more easily.

The skimmer filter and filter holder are mounted on the edge of the pool. The two screws at the top of the filter holder are fastened. Loosen the holder and place the skimmer filter so far down that the top edge is just below the water level. Note that the upper edge should be located approximately halfway on the holder. Tighten the holder again. The filter pump must be completely submerged in the water and be completely filled with water.

In order to avoid air being sucked into the pump during installation, it should be submerged at least 15 cm below the water surface.

The filter system is now ready for use.

The pump should be stored indoors during the winter in order to avoid frost damage.

The pump should always be positioned below the water surface in order to avoid unnecessary power consumption.

Note
The pump is activated as soon as the transformer is connected to the mains.

How the filter system works

Filter system uses a 12V surface pump with low voltage to circulate the water through a filter cartridge. There must always be water in the pump when it is running. The pump has an overload switch in order to avoid damage due to overheating. This switch automatically turns on again once the motor has cooled down. The filter cartridge filters the water for dirt, algae, oils, etc. The filter must be cleaned by rinsing it under the tap (see the next section on cleaning and maintenance).

Starting the pump

The pool must be filled with water up to above the edge of the filter. This makes the water flow into the filter making it ready for use. NEVER attempt to start the pump unless there is enough water in the pool!

The filter will capture hair, insects, leaves, and other large impurities in the water. Always keep the filter clean of dirt so as not to overload the pump.

Plug the pump into a power socket.

The filter in operation

The filter now runs in a normal filter routine. Continue to filter the pool water, until it is clear and clean.

The filter must run a minimum of 2 x 4 hours daily so that the water will be filtered twice a day. Between each interval the pump will be idle for a few hours. Connect a timer if necessary. In periods of hot weather and when there is a lot of bathing activity, the filter time must be increased, as does the need for water care products.

When the filter is clean, the pump has a maximum effect. On the other hand, if the filter is clogged with accumulated dirt, the water will not be able to circulate properly. Remember to inspect the filter as soon as the flow decreases, or each time the pump has been running for 5 hours – depending on whichever comes first. If the filter looks dirty – it should always be cleaned!

Cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning and maintenance

  1. Isolate the power source
  2. Remove the filter (lift the filter cover and unscrew the filter cartridge).
  3. Rinse the filter with a garden hose or under the tap. The filter can also be cleaned in a dishwasher. Rinse both the inside and the outside. Additional cleaning can be done by rinsing the filter in hot soapy water. If there are small calcium deposits in the filter layers, it no longer cleans effectively, and must therefore be replaced with a new filter. The filter is clogged with algae and dirt, so use an extra powerful water jet for cleaning. Never let the filter dry out, as it makes the filter difficult to clean and destroys it. Always have a spare filter ready for use.
  4. Put the filter back into the skimmer. Carefully tighten the screws and close the filter.
  5. Turn on the power source and continue the filtering.

YOU MUST KEEP THE FILTER CLEAN AT ALL TIMES IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE CORRECT WATER FLOW IN THE POOL!

Only use the filter that fits this pool. The filter must be covered with water at all times, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the pump.

Never add chemicals directly into the skimmer. These should instead be dissolved in a bucket of water, before being added along the edge of the pool. Alternatively use a child-proof floating chlorine dispenser.

Replacing the pump

  • Isolate the power supply and remove the pump housing from the pool.

  • Undo the black mounting plate by pushing it in and turning it anti clockwise.
IMPORTANT: Do not take hold of the motor. It will destroy the spring inside.

  • Lift the motor and filter out of the pump housing.

  • The bottom plastic edge and turning it anti clockwise until the filter is loose from the black mounting plate.

  • The mounting plate is now ready for a new filter.

  • Screw the filter onto the mounting plate, by turning it clockwise.

  • Locate the filter and the motor in the pump housing so that the notches on the edge of the mounting plate fit the edge of the pump housing.

  • Fasten the black mounting plate by pushing it in and turning it clockwise.
IMPORTANT: Do not take hold of the motor. It will destroy the spring inside.
