Introduction

We would like to thank you for the confidenceyou have placed in Jaeger- LeCoultre. OurMaison has applied all its expertise and exactingstandards to the creation of this model. We invite you to consult the operatinginstructions and hope your Jaeger-LeCoultretimepiece brings you great joy.
Accuracy and precautions for use
MANUALLY WOUND OR AUTOMATIC MECHANICAL WATCHES
The accuracy of watch models with mechanicalmovements is determined by the balancewheel. This oscillates at a rate of 28,800vibrations per hour. Despite all the care that the master watchmakers of the Jaeger-LeCoultreManufacture have lavished on building andassembling your watch, its accuracy is subjectto the influence of gravity, magnetic fields, accidental impacts, and the ageing of oils. The accuracy of a watch is measured by its regularity of rate in various positions.
Your individual activities could be the cause of slight irregularities in the working of your timepiece. If you observe a discrepancy in the way your watch runs, we advise you to entrust it to an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer who will make the necessary adjustments. Watches with mechanical movements must not be used for sports involving significant risk of impact or abrupt actions, such as golf or tennis.

Water resistance

Your Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is water resistant up to 10 bar. Its water resistance can be identi- fied by the symbol  and/or by “10 bar” engraved on the case-back. This means  that your model has been tested at an overpressure of 10 bar, corresponding to an immersion pressure of 100 metres (1 bar = ±10 metres). In accordance with the ISO  2810/NIHS 92-20 standard, in order to guarantee the durability of the watch’s characteristics over time, and as water resistance may be affected by certain activities, it is recommended that you:

– have the watch’s water resistance checked by an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer at least once every two years. It is essential to have such a check carried out each time
your watch is opened, and before any period in which it is liable to undergo prolonged and/ or regular immersions.
– check when making the purchase that the bracelet is suitable for the intended use.
– avoid subjecting the watch to excessively abrupt temperature changes.
– protect the watch from being dropped or suffering other accidental impacts, and have the water resistance checked after any severe impact.
– avoid using the controls, push-piece, or time- setting crown while under water, or outside the water, if the watch is not yet dry after immersion.
– restore the time-setting crown and the push- pieces to their normal positions, or where applicable, close the compression keys after every manipulation.
– rinse the watch with fresh water after use in sea water.
You may use your watch while swimming, as long as you do not exceed the immersion pressure and do not engage in any water sports that could cause impacts. This watch is not a piece of diving equipment and should not be used as such. Also, note that leather straps are not suited for aquatic activities.

“1000 Hours Control” test

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture pays close attention to the quality and to the final checks of its watches. The 1000 Hours Control is a series of internal qualification tests for each of the models in our collection, as well as internal tests on the pro- duction of your watch, which go beyond official timing tests. These tests include checks of the movement before and after being cased up in the watch and covers the whole watch once it has been assembled, in the conditions closest to daily wear.
The “1000 Hours Control” legend, or the seal engraved on the back of the watch certifies that each of the models from our collection has successfully undergone all of the qualification tests, and that your watch has successfully undergone all of the production tests. These ensure regularity of rate, resistance to variations in temperature and atmospheric pressure, ability to withstand shocks and magnetic fields, as well as water resistance.

STARTING AND WINDING
Crown A in position 0.
A few clockwise turns of the crown are enough to start your watch. It will then automatically wind up when you wear it. Please note that the crown does not lock when winding, even when the watch is fully wound.
SETTING THE HOUR AND MINUTES
Pull Crown A out to position 1.
The movement is then locked (“stop seconds” function).
Move the hands forward clockwise to the desired time and, on the hour signal, push the crown back to position 0. The watch starts running again.

OPERATING THE CHRONOGRAPH

The central seconds hand on your Jaeger- LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WT displays the chronograph seconds to the nearest eighth of a second. A counter located at 3 o’clock tallies the minutes up to 30 minutes (after 1 revolution it will start counting another 30 minutes). Another counter at 9 o’clock tallies the hours up to 12 hours (after one revolution it will start counting another 12 hours).
– Push-piece A: this push-piece starts and stops the chronograph function.
– Push-piece B: this push-piece resets the counters and the central seconds hand. When timing is in progress, resetting is not possible, the function is locked.

TIMING
– The chronograph is activated by pressing push-piece A once. The central seconds hand will turn, and the minute and hour counters will run. Pressing push-piece A again will stop the chronograph, enabling the time measurement to be read.
– Reset by pressing push-piece B to make another timing measurement.
– It is possible to add up several timing ope- rations by pressing again on push-piece A (without having to reset the counters). Timing is re-started, and is added to the  revious
measurement.

WORLD TIME FUNCTION
Your watch has a world time display, which allows the simultaneous display of the time in 24 cities around the world, situated in the 24 time zones (regions where the time difference is a fraction of an hour (India, Nepal, Iran) are not included on the city disc). The simultaneous reading of the time in these 24 cities is thus possible thanks to the city disc and the 24-hour turning ring. This readingnecessitates a pre-setting involving settingthe correct time zone by positioning thecorresponding city at 6 o’clock (the referencetime for the mechanism). If the time is set at 5 o’clock, you will see thatthe 24-hour ring displays ‘5’ opposite thecity at 6 o’clock. 2 hours later, at 7 o’clock, you will see that the 24-hour ring has moved forward, indicating ‘7’ opposite the city at 6o’clock. You can read the time in all time zonessimultaneously.

How to proceed:

  • Set the hour and minute according to the instructions below (setting the time).
  • Crown B (at 10 o’clock) moves the city disc: turn the crown either way in order to bring the city which corresponds to your local time next to the numeral ‘6’ on the dial (6 o’clock).
  • The 24-hour ring will now display the same time as your local time opposite the number ‘6’ and therefore opposite the reference city which you placed in this position.

Once this pre-setting is completed:

  • The city disc will not move.
  • The 24-hour ring will turn in unison with the local time, but will go round the dial once in 24 hours. The time in each city will be updated in accordance with the local time.
  • You can thus read the time in any of the indicated cities at any time by reading the hour opposite the relevant city on the 24-hour ring, and the central minute hand.
  • If you move into another time zone, repeat the initial operation in order to display the city corresponding to the new time zone at 6 o’clock.

STRAP
Jaeger-LeCoultre leather straps are fitted with a fast interchangeability system which makes it possible to remove the strap without the use of a tool. Metal and rubber straps require a tool (not included) in order to be removed. We recom- mend that you contact an authorised Jaeger- LeCoultre retailer or a Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique.
