The ALOGIC TB43DTB Thunderbolt 4 docking station allows for connection of up to two external displays and a host of other accessories allowing you to use your laptop as a desktop workstation. The dock is compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 equipped computers as well as with standard USB•C. When used with non-Thunderbolt equipped computers the available video output resolutions may be reduced (exact capabilities depend on the specifications of the host computer).
Instructions
(Refer to the images on the previous pages)
-
Powering the Dock The dock is suposeel with a mains power adapter and mains power cords for use M most regions. Connect the ;cave( cord that is suitable for your region to the included power adapter. Connect the round connecter on the end of the power adapter’s cable to the dock O and the mains power cable plug to an available mains power outlet. The dock toms on when power is connected and the power indicator LEO 0 win illuminate to show that its switched on and operating.
-
Connecting the Dock to the Laptop Connect the included Thunderbolt 4 cable between the dock 0 and your computer. The device is Plug and Play compatible and will be detected and confgured by your computer automatically. This process will take a few seconds the fist time you plug the device into your laptop. You may receive a notification that it has been installed and is ready for use. Once the device has been recognised and set up by your computer It is ready for use and you can connect other devices as desired such as monitors. US8 devices and a network cable. When connected to a computer that supports charging uslig USB Power Delivery (USE( PD). the dock can supply up to 96W of power to charge the computer.
Not all USB-C ports on Windows computers support video output. II connecting the dock to a non•Thunderbolt USB{ port, ensure that you connect the device to a port that is video capable. Refer to the USB-C Port Video Support section of this manual for further details.
Not every USB-C port on notebook computers supports charging. If connecting the dock to a non-Thunderbolt USB-C port and your I computer doesn’t start charging when a power supply is connected to the device and the device Is connected to your computer, try a different U58.0 port on your machine or consult the computer’s manual to determine which ports accept power from USB PO power sources. -
Connecting Devices to the Dock Connect external devices such as monitors. USB devices. Ethernet network cable and headphone/mit to the dock as necessary. Refer to Page 2 and 3 of these Instructions for an outline of the available ports and their functions. Monitors which have a USB-C or Thunderbolt video input can be connected directly to the Thunderbolt ports on the rear of the dock 0 using a USB-C to USB-C cable. If connecting to a monitor with a traditional video input (DisplayPort. HOW DVI C4 VGA) you will need to use a USB-C video cabie with an output that supports the connector on the monitor that you wish to connect to.
ALOGIC recommend the lacewing products to connect the dock to monitors which do not have a USB-C video input
A list of compatible video cables and adapters can be found at aloglc.cartb4
Video Resolution Support Table
The quantity and resolutions of video outputs supported depend on whether the
dock is connected to a Thunderbolt port or non.Thunderbolt USBC pert on the
host computer When connected to a LISB-C port which doesn’t support
Thunderbolt. the mmdmum video output also depends on the version of
DIsplayPort Alternate mode supported by the computer. Note that Apple Mac
computers which use an Apple Mt processor can only output a single Image
through this dock.
When connected to a non.Thunderbolt 1.1sEt-C port. the follcrmng maximum
resolutions are available depending on the version of US13.0 DisplayPal
alternate mode supported by the computer.
OperatingMode| Number of
DisplaysSupported| Single Monitor Max Resolution| Dual Monitor MaxResolution
---|---|---|---
Thunderbolt| 2| 7680×4320 60Hz| 2x 3840×2160
60Hz
MFDP(USB) Mode| 1| Host computer dependent – see table below| Notapplicable
USB.0 DisplayPort Alternate Mode Support| Maximum Resolution
DP1.4 (HBR3) with DSC| 5120×2880 60Hz
DP1.4 (HBR3) without DSC| 3840×2160 60Hz
DP1.2 (HBR2)| 3840×2160 30Hz
USB-C Port Video Support
All Thunderbolt USB-C ports support video output. Some USB-C ports which do
not support Thunderbolt also support video output, but many don’t. Many
Windows and Chromebook computers which don’t have Thunderbolt support have
multiple USB-C ports, but only support video output from one or two of them.
If using a Windows or Chromebook machine it is important to ensure that you
plug the device into a port which supports video output for it to be able to
show video on external monitors.
Many USB-C ports that have no labelling support video output, however USB-C
ports which have a DisplayPort logo or Intel Thunderbolt logo printed next to
them almost certainly support video output and you should look for these icons
next to the ports on your computer.
If in doubt about whether a USB-C port supports video output, consult the user
manual for your computer or the support information on the manufacturer’s
website.
DisplayPort Logo Intel Thunderbolt Logo
The device can be used with USB-C ports which do not support video output;
however you will not be able to conned the Thunderbolt ports on the rear of
the dock to external monitors and show video. The other ports (Ethernet, audio
and USB ports) will all be functional.
Troubleshooting

Check that the USB-C port on the computer that you have connected the dock to
is a Thunderbolt port or a 1_158-C port that supports video output using
DisplayPort Alternate Mode If connecting to a monitor with a USB-C or
Thunderbolt Input, ensure that the cable you are using supports full speed
data. Many USB-C cables are Intended for charging only and only support USB
2.0.
If the computer doesn’t detect the external monitor or output video after
checking the above, restart your computer and attempt again
.
Video drops out intermittently
