IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING!
To reduce the risk of injury, users must read and understand the operator’s manual for their zero-turn mower before using this accessory. Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and use them to instruct other users. If you loan someone this product, loan them these instructions also.

WARNING!
This attachment was designed to be operated according to the safe operating practices in this manual. Mowers are capable of amputating hands and feet and throw-ing objects. Failure to comply with the following safety instructions, as well as the safety instructions provided with your mower, could result in serious injury or death.

WARNING!
READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE BLOWER BOOSTER. To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.

  • Do not operate the mower without the side discharge cover or full grass catcher assembly properly installed. A missing or damaged side discharge cover or bagger attachment component may result in thrown objects or blade contact injuries.
  • The bagger assembly is subject to deterioration and wear which could expose moving parts or allow thrown objects. The assembly should be checked each time the mower is used. If replacement is needed, make sure the new bagger meets the original manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications.
  • Stop the engine set the parking brake, and wait for all moving parts to stop before opening the bagger cover.
  • Stop the engine, set the parking brake, remove the start key, and wait for all moving parts to stop before unclogging the discharge opening or bagger components.
  • Stop the engine, set the parking brake, remove the start key, and wait for all moving parts to stop before removing tubes or other bagger assembly components.
  • Slopes are a major factor related to loss of control and tip-over accidents, which can result in severe injury or death. Operation on all slopes requires extra caution. If you cannot back up the slope or if you feel uneasy on it, do not mow it. Do not reverse down a slope. When using the bagger, never use on steep slopes greater than 10°.
  • As the bagger fills, extra weight is added to the back of the machine. Use extra care while operating the machine with a bagger, which can affect the stability of the machine. A heavy bagger could cause loss of control or overturn the machine.
  • For your safety, measure any slope before using the machine on the sloped area. Use a slope-measuring device in addition to the slope gauge at the back of this manual.
  • Mow up and down slopes, not across.
  • Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or other hidden objects. Uneven terrain could overturn the machine. Tall grass can hide obstacles.
  • Use a slow speed so you will not have to stop suddenly or accidentally accelerate while on a slope. Rapid acceleration or braking on a slope could cause the front of the machine to lift and roll over, resulting in serious personal injury or death. Avoid uphill starts.
  • Do not mow on wet grass. Tires may lose traction and you may lose control.
  • Always keep the joystick in the forward position when going down slopes. Do not move to neutral and coast downhill, which may cause you to lose control of the mower.
  • Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on a slope. If the tires lose traction, disengage the blades and proceed slowly straight down the slope.
  • Keep all movement on slopes slow and gradual. Do not make sudden changes in speed or direction, which could cause the machine to roll over.
  • Do not try to stabilize the machine by putting your foot on the ground.
  • Do not permit children to use blower booster. It is not a toy. Close attention is necessary when used near children.
  • Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model described in this manual. Accessories that may be suitable for one blower booster may create a risk of injury when used on another blower booster. Use only as described in this manual.
  • Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  • Do not operate blower boosters in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Blower boosters create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Disconnect battery pack from blower booster or place the switch in the locked or off position before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the blower booster. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the blower booster accidentally.
  • Do not use a battery pack or appliance that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
  • Do not expose a battery pack or appliance to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 265°F may cause explosion.
  • Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or the battery pack except as indicated in the instructions for use and care.
  • Don’t expose blower boosters to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a blower booster will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When not in use, blower booster should be stored indoors in a dry, locked up place—out of the reach of children.
  • Blower booster service must be performed only by quali-fied repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel may result in a risk of injury.
  • When servicing a blower booster, use only identical re-placement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance Instructions may create a risk of shock or injury.
  • For household use only.

REMOVING THE CUTTING DECK

If desired, the cutting deck can be removed from the mower to make accessing the blades easier when changing.

  • Stop the motor, remove the start key, and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the cables that connect the cutting deck to the mower.
  • Lower the cutting deck to its lowest position.
  • Remove the 4 hitch pins and washers that secure the cutting deck in place.
  • Slide the deck out from under the mower.
  • Reverse the process to reattach the cutting deck to the mower.

INSTALLING BAGGING BLADES

DANGER:

Only use replacement blades and nuts authorized by the manufacturer of your riding mower. Use of blades and nuts not authorized is hazardous and may result in serious personal injury or damage to your riding mower.

  • Make sure the blade is not engaged.

  • Stop the motor, remove the start key, and set the parking brake.

  • Raise the height of the cutting deck to its highest position to allow access to the blades.
NOTE: If necessary, raise the mower by placing it on a lift or using a jack and jack stands, or remove the cutting deck as described in the previous section to gain access to the blades.
WARNING: If raising the mower to access the blades, make sure the mower is properly secured and the parking brake is set before proceeding. Failure to properly secure the mower could cause it to fall, resulting in possible death or serious personal injury.

  • Wedge a block of wood between the blade and the mower deck to prevent the blade from turning.

  • Loosen the blade nut by turning it counterclockwise (as viewed from the bottom of the mower) using a 15 mm wrench or socket (not provided).

  • Remove the blade nut, spring washer, and blade.

  • Place the new blade on the shaft against the corresponding blade posts. Ensure the blade is properly seated with the shaft going through the center blade hole and the two blade posts inserted into their respective holes on the blade. Make sure it is installed with the curved ends pointing up toward the mower deck and not down toward the ground. When seated properly, the blade should be flat against the blade posts.

  • Replace the spring washer.
NOTE: Make certain all parts are replaced in the exact order in which they were removed.

  • Thread the blade nut on the shaft and finger tighten.

  • Torque the blade nut down clockwise using a torque wrench (not provided) to ensure the bolt is properly tightened. The recommended torque for the blade nut is 600 – 650 in. lbs.
WARNING: Ensure the blade is properly seated and the blade nut is tightened to the torque specifications above. Failure to properly attach the blade could cause it to come loose and result in possible serious personal injury.

  • Repeat with the second blade.

ASSEMBLING THE BAGGER FRAME

Before assembling the bagger frame, the right, rear side panel must be removed.

  • Press the button located on the bottom of the panel as shown.
  • Pull the panel outward and up to release it from the lawnmower’s body. Slight force may be needed.
NOTE: Be sure to store the panel in a safe place for future use if the bagger kit should be removed.

ASSEMBLY

  • Insert the front bagger bracket into the hole on the rear of the mower as shown.
  • Install the nut and finger tighten to steady the bracket during assembly. Do not tighten securely at this time.
  • Install the left and right lower supports. Be sure the but-tons release into the holes in the frame to lock securely.
  • Place upper bag supports on the rear support. Be sure the buttons release into the holes in the frame to lock securely.
  • Align the upper bag supports and the lower rear support so the assembly slides onto both the front bagger bracket and lower bag supports at the same time. Be sure the buttons release into the holes in the supports to lock securely.
ASSEMBLING THE GATE LEVER SUPPORT AND GATE

The connector plate for the lever support comes loosely installed onto the gate release lever allowing the plate to be easily mounted onto the gate lever support.

  • Locate the two hex head bolts and nuts.

  • Hold the lever with one hand and spread the plate with the fingers of your other hand to allow the plates to slide over and under the gate lever support.

  • Insert the bolts through the top plate, through the support, and out through the bottom plate.

  • Install the nuts onto the bolts and securely tighten all four bolts and set aside.

  • Locate the gate and the two Y supports.

  • Position the Y support to the outside of the gate with the crimped end facing outward.
NOTE: The two Y supports are not identical. Be sure the crimped side of the tube is facing the outside of the gate and leaning in the correct direction as shown before fastening.

  • Insert the bolt from the inside of the gate and through the Y support. Attach the washer, and acorn nut, and tighten securely.

  • Repeat these steps for the remaining side.

  • Attach the gate lever support to the top of the Y supports as shown and set the gate assembly aside.

INSTALLING THE GRASS BAG

The grass bag is easier to install when the frame assembly is removed from the lawnmower.

  • Remove the nut from the bottom of the frame assembly and lift it from the lawnmower. Set the frame on its side as shown.

  • Unfold the grass bag and place it over the frame assembly.

  • Pull one of the side clips over the frame rail and secure it in place as shown.

  • Fasten the clip on the other side and proceed to fasten the remaining clips around the frame.
NOTE: One clip is located inside the bag. Be sure it is attached before proceeding to the next step.

  • Adjust the hook and loop straps to make sure they are closed around the frame assembly mounting bracket. Avoid any large openings that would allow the grass clippings and debris to escape during operation.

INSTALLING THE GATE ASSEMBLY
  • Place the completed gate assembly on a flat, level surface.
  • Position the grass bag assembly over the gate. NOTE: The grass bag assembly is in the correct position when the magnetic latch connects.
  • Insert a bolt through a sleeve and slide it through the gate assembly, washer, and top hole of the tab on the frame.

APPLICATIONS

You may use this product for the purposes listed below:

  • Collecting leaves and grass clippings from your lawn
USING THE BAGGING KIT

WARNING:
Added accessories can affect the stability of the mower when operating on slopes. Use additional care when mowing on slopes with the bagging kit installed.

WARNING:
Be especially careful before and when backing with the bagging kit installed, as it may limit visibility. Always look closely behind and down for small children, bystanders, and pets and move the mower slowly to prevent backover accidents that can cause death or serious personal injury.

  • Install the bagging kit as previously described.
  • Mow as desired, keeping aware of the status of the bag full indicator. When the red ball in the indicator floats to the highest position, the bag is full and needs to be emptied.
NOTE: If the red ball in the indicator floats to the highest position and the bag is not full, check for a clog in the tubes. If clogged, raise the mowing deck to the highest position and, with the blades engaged, press the “clear bagger chute button” on the lawnmower’s control panel. The fan will activate for 30 seconds to clear the debris from the tubes. The fan can be activated again a second time, if necessary. Wait approximately 60 seconds before pressing the button a third time.
EMPTYING THE GRASS BAG

The lever allows the user to empty the grass bag without leaving the lawnmower seat.

  • Carefully back the mower to the designated location for emptying.

  • Make sure the blade is not engaged.

  • Stop the mower, place the joystick in the neutral and locked position, secure the parking brake, and remove the start key.

  • Using your left hand, grasp the lever and force the handle down to release the magnetic catch.
NOTE: Be sure the cable is connected to the gate. If the cable is not connected, the lever may strike the left, rear panel of the mower when being activated and could cause damage to the panel.

  • The clippings and debris should fall into a pile beneath the bagger opening.

  • Pull up on the lever to close and latch the gate. Be sure the magnet is engaged before moving the mower.

  • Reinstall the start key and restart the mower when you are ready to return to mowing.
NOTE: Always empty the grass bag before storing the mower.

The magnetic catch should be sufficient to safely keep the gate closed, however, when operating on rough terrain, the hook and loop strap may be installed as shown to help hold the gate in its closed position.

OPERATING TIPS
  • Avoid cutting wet grass or grass that is heavy with dew. Grass that is wet will be sticky and could adhere to bag-ger parts.
  • If the bagger fails to pick up cut grass or leaves when the bag is not full, it may indicate that a clog has occurred. Stop the motor, remove the start key, set the parking brake, and check all parts of the bagger for clogged material.
