Stuck Shutter Fix Replacement
A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras.
Written By: Marina Bayardo
INTRODUCTION
A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras. The camera may
take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be bright
and overexposed, especially when taken (for shutter stuck open).
Step 1 — Shutter
- Put the camera in any mode other than Auto, and turn off the flash.
- Turn off the LCD screen and press the DISP or DISPLAY button.
Step 2 — Adjust the Camera Setting For many canon cameras this will be
shutter priority mode, that will give you the longest exposure time without
flash.
Step 3 — Open/Close the Battery Door
- After a few seconds open the battery door then close it again. This will momentarily interrupt power during the exposure time.
**** Repeat the procedure until the shutter becomes unstuck.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
