Installation Precautions
- Consult an expert when in doubt about installation. Professional installation is always recommended.
- Prior to installation, disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery.
- Connect the LED lighting to 12V power supply only. Do not connect the LED lighting to the vehicle’s navigational lighting circuits.
- When installing the speakers, take into consideration the risks that can arise from devices being torn away in the case of an accident. Therefore, make sure the speakers are firmly secured and the mounting area is sufficiently stable.
- Avoid routing wires near any sharp or moving parts. Run wires away from other wires that may cause unwanted noise. Insulate bare wires properly. Seal connections to ensure water-tight connection.
- If you must modify the vehicle for the speaker installation, make sure you do not impair the safety and structural integrity of the vehicle.
- Before you drill or cut any holes, investigate your vehicle’s layout very carefully. Take special care when you work near the fuel tank, fuel lines, hydraulic lines and electrical wiring.
Installation
Audio signal wiring
- Using the supplied speaker wires, connect the speakers to your 12VDC source unit (to audio outputs on the amplifier or speaker wires of the head unit).
The red wire is connected to the positive terminal and the black wire to the negative terminal. Make sure the wires are firmly attached to the terminals.
Refer to the user manual of your amplifier or head unit for other connection.
- Make sure the speakers are wired correctly at 4 ohms. Observe speaker polarity when making connections.
Speaker LED wiring
This product comes with a LED sync hub which receives wireless signal from the
supplied remote control.
- Follow the illustration below to complete the LED wiring connection.
-
Connect the “POWER INPUT” wires to the following: black wire to your vehicle’s grounding plate or to the negative battery terminal; red wire to your vehicle’s lighting circuit with on/off switch.
If the red wire is connected to the positive battery terminal, install a dedicated on/off switch (not included) to be in line with the red wire for power control.
Make sure the ground wire (black) is fastened on the ground point. Scrape away any paint, rust or dirt from the ground point to provide a clean contact. -
Important! Using two supplied splice wire connectors, install the supplied fuse to be in-line with the red wire which connects power supply. This provides short-circuit protection.
-
To extend the power wires (red and black), use 16 gauge wires (not included). Ground wire should be as short as possible. Use the supplied cable ties to fasten the LED sync hub.
-
Note: only use SYNC OUT and SYNC IN when connecting two or more LED sync hubs together.
-
Important! Replace the old fuse with the same rating (3A) and type.
To synchronize more than one set of MRGB65 for LED lighting (optional)
- Follow the illustration above to complete LED wiring for another set of MRGB65 (sold separately).
- Using the supplied LED sync hub connection cable, connect the “SYNC OUT” on the first/primary LED sync hub to the “SYNC IN” on the second LED sync hub (sold separately). In this case, you can synchronize the lighting of four speakers. Follow step 1 and 2 above to synchronize more speakers.
Mounting
If you replace your vehicle’s existing speakers, simply use the existing
mounting locations. Or create a cutout in your vehicle panel for speaker
installation.
Important! Make sure the speakers are mounted in correct orientation so that
the drain hole/notch on the grill points downward for water drainage. Do not
block the water drain hole.
-
Determine the location (e.g. side panels or dash panel) where the speakers are to be mounted.
-
Cut a mounting hole and screw holes on the mounting surface as follows:
• Verify the supplied template matches the speaker and mounting cut-out.
• Cut out the template along the cut line. Use the cut-out template to mark the mounting hole and screw holes on the mounting surface. Then cut the holes for the speaker to be mounted. -
Complete the speaker signal and LED wiring.
-
Fasten the speaker into the mounting hole with four supplied screws and clip nuts.
Make sure the speaker sits flush across the entire mounting surface.
Make sure to properly break in speakers and not reach max volume until after two 20-minute cycles at regular volume.
LED lighting control
User the supplied remote control to control the RGB LED lights on both
speakers.
Note on lighting control
- Make sure the LED power cable is correctly and securely connected, and the speaker lights are powered on through the LED power cable.
- The RF remote range is up to 25 ft (line of sight). Do not obstruct the RF remote with metal.
-
Turn on or off illumination. Make sure the LED wire is correctly connected.
-
