AMKUS RESCUE SYSTEMS ITR230 Basic Seal Kit Installation Guide
PURPOSE
To document the process of replacing the 4 seals that are the most common
failures in the ITR230 ram.
REQUIRED TOOLS
- Oil syphon or drain pan
- Stubby 6mm hex key
- Torque wrench set to 16 flubs w/ 6mm hex bit
- Dead blow mallet
- Slide hammer
- Loctite ™ Blue 242
- KER0025-KIT ITR230 basic seal kit
- MV0 fluid for filling
DIRECTIONS

Fully extend piston, then retract ½” to relieve pressure. This pulls fluid into the cylinder and prevents it from spilling when opening the reservoir.

Remove reservoir cover and bladder

Syphon fluid out of the reservoir while retracting the piston.
After fluid has been drained extend ram ½” to relieve pressure

Remove the (4) bolts that hold the manifold to the pump housing. Avoid placing hands around the seam between the two, due to risk of hydraulic injection.

Remove the (4) bolts that hold the manifold to the cylinder, then slide the manifold down to remove it.

Replace the VO-008A o ring at the base of the cylinder

Apply blue Loctite to the (4) bolts and reinstall.
Note the shorter bolt goes in the top right hole.
Torque to 16 ft-lbs -
Replace the (2) VO-008U o rings at the top of the manifold. Note o rings may be cream colored or blue.

Remove plunger from pump housing with a slide hammer

Replace outer (VO-153) and inner (VO-110A) seals on plunger

Reinstall plunger. Seat into place with gentle taps from a dead blow, ensuring not to pinch the seals. Then push in the rest of the way.

Reinstall spring. Ensure it is properly seated around the raised flange on the plunger and manifold.

Apply blue Loctite to the (4) manifold bolts and attach the manifold to the pump housing.
Torque to 16 ft-lbs -
Refill tool per LIK-055 Ion Oil Fill Procedure
