Important Safety Instructions

General safety instructions

  • Please read the instruction manual carefully before using your appliance for the first time. This product is intended for domestic use only.

  • Use the appliance in accordance with the instructions in the manual and the QSG.

  • The appliance cannot be used outdoors. Do not store the appliance outdoors.

  • Do not store or use the appliance at a temperature below 0°C.

  • Your electrical appliance must be used under normal operating conditions. Any use for commercial purposes, or any use that deviates from the instruction manual, will release the manufacturer from all responsibility and invalidate the warranty.

  • The accessories must not under any circumstances be used with any appliance other than the one for which they were designed: CLEAN IT.

  • For countries subject to EU regulations ( marking):
    This appliance can be used by children aged eight years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or who lack experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision and instruction concerning safe use and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Children should not clean or perform maintenance on the appliance unless they are supervised. Keep the appliance and its power cord out of reach of children.

  • For other countries not subject to EU regulations:
    This appliance is not designed for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or by people with no prior knowledge or experience, unless they are supervised by or have had previous instruction relating to the use of the appliance from a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  • Never unplug your appliance by pulling on the power cord.

  • Always unplug your appliance:

    • Before filling the tank with clean water.
    • Before emptying the dirty water tank.
    • Before cleaning it.
    • After each use.
  • The appliance should be placed on its feet and used on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.

  • Do not place the appliance on wet ground.

  • Keep the appliance out of reach of children less than eight years of age when it is switched on or cooling down.

  • Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the mains.

  • Water may drip when removing the tanks.

  • Never touch mains plugs, sockets or connectors with wet hands.

  • The appliance must not be used if it has been dropped, if it has visible damage, if it leaks or if it is malfunctioning in any way. Never disassemble your appliance: have it checked at an authorised service centre to avoid a hazard.

  • If water leaks from the appliance unit, unplug the appliance from the socket and stop using it. Return it to an authorised service centre.

  • This appliance is not designed for cleaning clothing.

  • If the power cord or suction hose is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales department, or similarly qualified individuals in order to prevent danger.

Appliance maintenance

Follow the steps below to properly maintain your appliance:

  • Emptying the dirty water tank after each use:
    • Remove the dirty water tank.
    • Remove the lid and empty the water. Then rinse the lid and tank.
    • Close the lid and reposition the tank on the appliance.
  • Cleaning the dirty water tank:
    • For a light clean, pour a few drops of washing-up liquid into the tank and wash it by hand. Leave to air-dry before reassembling the components.
    • Do not wash the water tanks or the product in the dishwasher.
  • Cleaning the different parts of your product:
    • Remove the attachment from the suction hose cuff.
    • For the narrow and wide brushes: Remove the cover and rinse the attachment.
    • Use a clean, soft cloth to dry the attachment or leave it to air-dry before reassembling the components.
  • Most importantly, do not use descaling agents (vinegar, industrial descaling agents etc.) to rinse the tanks as they may damage them.
  • Unplug the product during cleaning and refilling.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water.
  • Do not spill water on the appliance.
  • The appliance must be unplugged in the following situations: before cleaning and maintenance, in the event of a malfunction, as soon as you have finished using it.
  • Do not leave the product when it is in operation.

Additional precautions

  • All accessories, consumables and spare parts must be purchased exclusively from an authorised service centre.

  • For your safety, this appliance complies with the applicable standards and regulations (including directives regarding low-voltage appliances, electromagnetic compatibility and the environment).

  • Check that your mains voltage matches the voltage of your appliance. Any connection error may cause irreparable harm, which is not covered by the warranty.

  • Check that the suction hose is not blocked before using the product.

  • Always connect your appliance:
    To a mains circuit with a voltage of between 220 and 240 V.

  • Never connect an accessory with more power than the maximum permissible power indicated near the connector.

  • Any connection error may cause irreversible damage and will invalidate the warranty. If you are using an extension cord, make sure that the plug is of the 16A.

  • Unwind the power cord completely before connecting it to an electrical socket.

    • Handle the accessories carefully.
    • Never clean a garment on a person.
    • Never use the appliance to groom your animals.
  • Under no circumstances should the carrying bags be used to store anything other than the accessories sold with this product.

  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and other body parts away from the appliance’s openings and moving parts.

  • Do not point the stream of water at yourself or anyone else. Do not point the stream of water towards your eyes. Do not point the stream of water at electrical sources (plugs, electrical appliances etc.).

  • The power cord and suction hose must not come into contact with hot surfaces.

  • Do not pull on the power cord or suction hose. Do not carry the appliance by the power cord or suction hose/attachments.

  • Do not hold the appliance by the air suction area.

  • Do not start the appliance without the water tanks properly fitted.

  • Do not remove the tanks while the appliance is in use.

  • Do not place the product on a carpet with piles longer than 10 mm.

  • Before each use, check that the float moves freely and that the dirty water tank has been properly cleaned.

  • Do not vacuum wet surfaces, water or any type of liquids, hot substances, ultra-fine substances (plaster, cement, ashes etc.), large sharp items of debris (glass), hazardous products (solvents, abrasives etc.), harsh chemicals (acids, cleaning products etc.), or inflammable or explosive products (oil or alcohol based).

  • Do not vacuum perfumes, essential oils or scented water, or put these into the water tanks.

  • Do not vacuum toxic products (bleach, ammonia, drain unblocker, vinegar etc.) or put these into the product.

  • Only use water with the cleaner recommended by ROWENTA/TEFAL for vacuuming.

  • Do not vacuum sharp or hard objects.

  • Do not use your appliance in the rain.

  • Do not vacuum ash or materials that may be incandescent.

  • Do not vacuum soft soap, detergent, washing-up products or essential oils, or put these into the tanks.

  • To unplug the appliance, pull on the plug and not the power cord.

  • Do not use the appliance as a vacuum cleaner.

  • Do not use the appliance on animals.

Other uses of the appliance

  • Do not clean tiles or wooden floors.
  • Do not use your CLEAN IT to clean your toilets.
  • Do not drain your toilets with your CLEAN IT.
  • Your appliance is designed for use in the home only. It cannot be used for professional purposes. The warranty will become null and void if the appliance is used incorrectly.
  • Stop using your appliance if one of the suction openings is blocked.
  • Do not put anything into the suction vents.
  • Do not use for drying babies’ hair.
  • Do not use to de-ice your car.

What water should I use?

  • Tap water: Your appliance has been designed to function using untreated cold tap water. In some seaside areas, the salt content of your water may be high. In this case, use only bottled water with low mineral content.
  • Do not use your CLEAN IT with hot water.
  • Remember: Never use rainwater, pure shop-bought demineralised water, pure shop-bought distilled water or water containing additives (such as starch, perfume or appliance water).

Take part in environmental protection!

  • Your appliance contains a number of materials that can be reused or recycled.
  • Take it to a collection point or, failing that, to an authorised service centre for processing.

Problems with your appliance?

To reduce the risk of electric shocks, turn off the power switch and disconnect the plug from the mains before performing maintenance or troubleshooting on the product.
