INSTALLATION – Exo Terra Natural Terrariums

Follow this installation procedure to install the Exo Terra® Monsoon NANO system on any size of Exo Terra® Natural Terrarium. The system comes with 2 easy-to-install nozzles, which should be mounted on either of the terrarium’s glass side panels, as close as possible to the opening front doors.

  1. Unlock the top screen cover and lift it off the terrarium.

  2. Slide the inlet holes (located on the back of the screen top on either side) to the open position, so the tubing will fit through.

  3. Feed the tubing through the first inlet hole on each side on the back of the terrarium. (fig. A)

  4. Position the nozzle on the glass portion of the terrarium’s side panels with the suction cup, or use the Monsoon Nozzle mounting points if these are available in your terrarium. When using the suction cups, please make sure that the glass area is clean and free of any dirt or deposits before mounting the nozzles.

  5. For optimal spray performance, position the nozzle as close as possible to the front opening windows and the top screen (fig. B).
Direct the nozzle position toward the middle of the terrarium to prevent the spray from reaching the front and side glass panels during operation. This ensures the most effective and precise application of the spray water. This ensures the spray water is spray water is optimally distributed.

  6. Replace the top screen cover and lock it back into position.

  7. Close the remaining inlets by sliding the slider against the tubing r o to prevent escape from feeding insects and smaller animals. (fig.

  8. Remove any slack in the tubing inside the terrarium. Make sure there are no kinks in the tubing that could impede water flow to the nozzles.

  9. Connect the tubing to the OUT-spout on the side of the unit by pressing the tubing firmly onto the OUT-spout. (fig. D)

  10. Connect the inlet tubing to the IN-spout and lead the inlet tubing to the designated water reservoir and position the water filter inside a reservoir of your choice (fig. E).

  11. Make sure the unit is in its final operating location, on a solid, level surface.

  12. Fill the reservoir with de-mineralized/distilled water up to a maximum of 2,5 cm (1”) from the top. (Using regular tap water will cause clogging of the nozzles by mineral deposits!)

  13. Connect the USB-C connector to the side of the unit, and the USB-A connector to the power adaptor.

  14. Plug the power adaptor into the wall socket, and your Exo Terra® Monsoon Programmable Misting system is now ready to use.

NOTE: When the reservoir is nearly empty, it is advisable to refill the reservoir immediately or to switch off the unit. Although the pump can run idle without overheating once the reservoir is empty, it is still advised to refill the reservoir as soon as possible or disconnect the Monsoon NANO from the power source to ensure a longer pump life.
NOTE: The Exo Terra® Monsoon NANO should be set according to the needs of the animals and the size of the terrarium. Be careful not to operate the unit too frequently or too long to avoid overflowing the terrarium! The unit should be set so that water added to the terrarium from the first operating cycle is allowed to evaporate before the next operating cycle begins, or at least make sure that the excess water can be drained out of the terrarium.

Adding additional Nozzles to the system

The Exo Terra® Monsoon NANO can be operated with up to 4 nozzles. Please note that every additional nozzle will result in less performance from each nozzle installed. To connect additional nozzles, an extra nozzle and a Y-connector (PT2498) are needed
(sold separately). Simply cut the tubing where convenient. Make sure the nozzle can easily be mounted in its intended location without stretching the tubing. Connect the tubing coming from the unit to the single inlet of the Y-connector and the other end of the tubing to the double inlets. Connect the tubing from the additional nozzle to the other inlet of the Y-connector. Please note that additional nozzles can be mounted in multiple terrariums.

MAINTENANCE

Only use de-mineralized/distilled water or debris-free and clean rainwater! Wash or replace the filter regularly, at least every six months depending on the usage and water quality. To wash the water filter, open the water filter cartridge and remove the filter
sponge. Thoroughly rinse the filter sponge and replace it in the cartridge. If the nozzles are clogged or if they spray irregularly, place the nozzles overnight in a 50/50 water/vinegar solution. Rinse thoroughly with clean water before mounting the nozzles back onto the terrarium. A replacement filter and other accessories are available at your local Exo Terra® pet retailer.
