RETLUX RDB 100 Wireless Doorbell

Operating Manual

Description
Dear customer, thank you for purchasing a RETLUX brand product. You have purchased a wireless doorbell kit with very easy installation. The button is paired with the doorbell with a unique code and up to 3,200,000 combinations. In practice, this means that it is almost certain that your base will not respond to a button that your neighbours have installed, for example. However, due to this unique coding at the factory (if the button is lost or damaged), it is not possible to replace the button. The doorbell also has protection against unwanted interference in the surroundings and has a choice of 48 melodies. The bell is also equipped with a built-in optical signaling by means of a segment, illuminated by an LED and flashing when ringing. This can indicate the ringing status even in noisy environments or to hearing impaired persons. The battery in the button usually has a lifespan of around one year at a frequency of 20 presses per day (depending on the quality of the batteries used).

Technical Specifications

Component Specification
Button Power Supply 1 x 12V/LR23A battery (included)
Communication Frequency 433 MHz
Range up to 150 m (depending on local conditions)
Ingress Protection IP44

Installation

  1. For the base:  Plug the base in the room into a standard 230 V power outlet (RDB 110 and RDB 112 models only) (for RDB 100 model, insert a 3xAA battery). Always select a power outlet that is freely accessible (RDB 110 and RDB 112 models only).
  2. For the doorbell button:  The bell button has a notch at the bottom. Here, carefully insert the corresponding flathead screwdriver and carefully remove the cover. Then insert the battery and make sure the polarity is correct. When fitting the cover, check that the seal is always seated correctly. Otherwise, there is a risk of damage to the electronics if water gets inside. To place the button outdoors, ideally choose a location that is as little exposed to the weather as possible. This will extend the life of the device. The recess in the door column and the like is suitable. Never place the button in a metal housing. The button can be permanently attached to a solid pad with screws or adhered to a smooth surface with the supplied sticker. There are two pre-marked screw holes on the bottom of the button housing. These can be used when you want to place the button permanently. These holes must then be sealed under the bolt head to prevent water from getting in. This would also result in the destruction of the button electronics. Always check before installation that you will have good signal reception from your chosen location. Any structural obstruction reduces the effective range between the base and the doorbell button. In particular, reinforced concrete significantly limits the range of radio signals. There is an LED on the button as a light that illuminates when the button is pressed to indicate the switching function.

Troubleshooting

  • If the doorbell does not ring when the button is pressed, make sure it is not out of range of the radio signal – adjust the distance between the button and the doorbell, as the signal range can be greatly affected by local conditions.
  • If the indicator light on the button does not illuminate when the button is pressed, replace the battery and ensure the correct polarity of the inserted battery.
  • If the bell indicates that it has rung, but the base still does not ring, check the wiring in the mains socket (RDB 110 and RDB 112 models only) or the condition and polarity of the batteries in the base (RDB 100 model only).

Control
You can set the desired melody and volume on the base. Press the button to change the volume and press the melody button to change the melody.
